Go Big OR Go Home! Construction of a 1000 gallon System!!

Got them at US Plastics but the price has gone up to about $60. What a difference a few months make! I am sure their production costs went up because of the price of natural gas. These are really hardcore BHs!

I need 3" BHs for a specialized purpose so that's why I shopped around and got them at US Plastics. I bought everything else from Savko.

Why did you need 3" BH again ?? How many ??

I am using 2 of them on my skimmer with plugs modified for air injection. I went with the 3" so I would have enough clearance to mount 4 airstones through each BH. The plug is tapped on the outside for 1/4" air line. Inside is glued a 1/2" PVC pipe which is capped and tapped for four 1/8" elbows for airstones.

This is a mod of other DIY airstone skimmers to make it much easier to clean and change stones. All I need to do is unscrew the plug to get at the stones, rather than taking apart the skimmer. Easier maintainance is a must and the biggest gripe about airstone skimmers is dealing with the stones. Taking that out of the equation makes it a better skimmer IMO.

Sorry for the delay! Menards is a hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes. I do not know where they have stores at outside Indiana.
These are rails that are used on large doors like barn doors. I hope that helps! Anyway, here is the link..

Thanks
I heve been looking at this option for a while. the question is what are they made of and will they stand up

They are metal, they should be fine as long as you have good dehumidification. I don't see any problems with them, they are well above my tank. And I have good dehumidification.

asnatlas - the one on the left a sched. 40 and the one on teh right a sched 80? i know the one on the right is a sched 80 but i've never had one of the ones on the left...that is why i ask. i have some schd 40 from savko.com. gotten only 1" and below so maybe the 2" look like that

Lunchbucket, you are correct, sched 40 on left and sched 80 on right... I myself have not seen a sched 40 like pictured until I received my tank from Will at AO (from Canada) so it much be a sched 40 Canadian thing :)

on of my buddies has some of those shorter sched 40 like we are talking about. i didn't konw if it was a over 1" thing or what. they seem short...are they?
