Don't peppermint shrimp eat other "wanted" stuff?

Yes. The ones I have had in the past have been terrible theives. Tormenting the LPS when they catch food.

That is the biggest reason I do not have any in the tank now.

How about a picture of you (or anyone) standing next to it so we can get a perspective on how BIG this tank really is?

AcroSteve: I think all shrimp are "theives" but based on my research they also kill small animals and other shrimp. Anyone have a comment on that?

Well, I am no expert on them, but I have had several peppermint shrimp along with a coral banded and some cleaners and never had any problems with them. The coral banded may be questionable, but i never notivced any damage from him. The peppermints stole a little food, but never bothered any corals or other critters. Maybe a few pods but who knows on that one. I had more problems with the fish going after the shrimp than anything.

Just went through this whole thread and all I can say is WOW (can't believe I didn't notice it before). The setup looks very clean and I love those big sumps. The aquascaping looks great. You have clearly taken your time to plan this one out and spent considerable time setting it up. I can't wait to have a large tank with its own room... I may have to come visit one day to steal some ideas :D

Any updated pics? how is the tank doing ? any issues with heat due to it being summertime ?

I need to post some new pictures when I get home this weekend. I have a lot more coral and fish to take pictures of!!

The heat has not been too bad. The tank stays at 79.5 - 80 all the time. The chiller doesn't run as much as I thought it would. The fan on the tank helps a great deal also!!

Can you give a little more info on the Titan sumps? Manufacturer and model #? I cought the comment about a local guy with extras but I'm not ready to buy yet. They are huge and dont require external bracing. Square fits nicely into a room corner. Perfect to my eyes.

I googled em but got too many sump pump hits.

Its been awhile, so I need to update with some pictures. I've made a major change on my chiller. I went with a TradeWinds 1.5HP chiller. This thing ROCKS SOLID!!

I have also added a lot of coral and fish since my last posted pictures. I just took a bunch of pictures so I will post them soon!

But here are some of my new chiller!!

A lot more pictures to come SOON!!!!

Yup! Cuts down on the airflow in that area.

You might want to look for some treated lumber too.

One heck of a chiller.

The ele box will make a hot spot on the condenser.

Not really, it sits out about 6 inches from the fins. Plus it only takes up a few square inches, not to worry!!
