Grand opening pictures

Tamikabrown,

Kinda hard to take your comment seriously when you're the one who been buddy with other LFS. I guess John is going to prove the other LFS wrong. Yes - you can get it cheap and perfect. :D

Minh

[edit] took out the personal comment because I don't want to turn this thread into a negative thread. :D

I know alot of the store owners from the job that I do and they refer people from Reef Central as "CHEAP CENTRAL" They say that we want things for cheap but in perfect condition and the stores cant compete with people giving their stuff away for free and swaping them on here so they cater towards the new hobist that dont know much that will be willing to spend money.

yeah, the prices are great, I hope he can keep up with the bills and still continue to have those prices. but even if he did end up raising them a little it still woundnt bother me. :)

BTW, its cool, I'm also taken as everyone knows. but the similarities on that picture are uncanny.. :). was that you with the Canon 1D? because if I was guilty of stairing at anything it would be your camera, very nice :) haha

Still has to be profitable!

But, knowing John I am sure that he has over crunched his numbers and knows exactly what he is doing. I just want to know if he's going to have free coffee & donuts every week ;-)

haha, coffee was a nice touch :) unfortunatelly the Chamber of Commerce was hogging the donuts I almost had to crawl over them .

Thanks for posting the pics. I missed the grand opening because I'm not in town.

I think someone here is dreaming about Julia Roberts... she don't look like Julia! heh

Hey ImAfish -

Not quite sure which fish you are referring to. I did notice that some of his fish were more expensive than other places - but they all looked healthy to me. No sign of ich on any of the fish. Paradise does have healthy fish - but I don't know if I trust fish from some of the other LFS.

You're right though - I was paying more attention to the corals and dry good price.

Oops I forgot to put something in my last post. Congrats John! Even though I have not met you I look foward to comming to your store. Only have heard wonderful things about you from other M.A.R.S. members, and I trust word of mouth from other hobbyist then I do from an AD.

Congrats once again..

I was outside on the phone at one point and some lady walked up, helped herself to some donuts and then split.

Once again, congratulations John and Stacy. Great store, nice and clean. I hardly noticed the light fixtures because I was looking IN the tanks. You guys will do well and thanks for being such great supporters of MARS. I can just see the freshwater selection shrinking soon... :D

Nice pictures Alex. It was a nice lookin store. The only thing I wanna know is who is this handsome devil on the right? =)

Alex -

I have no clue what you're talking about. I had no problem elbowing my way to the coffee and donut.

Minh

That's because you had a lower angle of attack, haha!

arson420, the handsome devil on the right seems to be a nicely lighted 100 or so gal tank ;)
I'm so bad with faces, you should have said hi, jess said that it was you, but I said naah I don't think so, (I'm wrong again)

Minh, the more I think of it, we may be the same height or close to it, so you may have to show me some of your donut swiping moves...oh on the other hand never mind, I don't need all of the belly back....:)

Yep, it was me. That was my work camera... 1d mkII. I'm used to people staring at it, it's really bad when I have the 70-200 2.8L-IS on there. It's a beast!

Jon's place

Jon's place

I stop by at john's place. the place is kind of small. not sure why you all hoot hoot about!

since i have fresh and salt water tank, i kind of disappointed on the fresh water section. he only has about 4 or 5 tanks. no options there.
on the salt water section, it's alright. Fish are healthy but a little pricey. A yellow tang for $45 is a little outrage. Capital is the most ridiculous prices but they even sell cheaper than that.

i do like the Coral section though. it's really nice and well set. prices are medium, depending of what you want to get.

Dry goods are still missing here and there, prices are alright... need more items display...

For me guys, if you want to buy corals, this place is worth to stop by. beside that, it's not much....

Good luck on the store though....
