Halide bulb recommendation for H. Magnifica

Hi All,

I'm setting up a dedicated tank (1/2 of a standard 75g) for a H. Magnifica (or gig, not 100% sure yet) and I'd like to use a 250w halide pendent I have. Idealy I'd like not to run supplemental actinic if I can avoid it, trying to make due with the old gear I have.

What bulb would you recommend?

Ushio Aqualite 14K Single End Bulb
XM 15K Single End Bulb
XM 20K Single End Bulb
Radium 20K Single End Bulb

Those are the options I'm playing with now. Ballast is a Blueline electronic single end socket.

I'm using 2x250w 14k phonix bulbs on my 90g. my mag is about half way up the tank directly under one of the lights.

Not set on a specific brand, BRS examples listed because they are local to me. Open to any other ideas. I could swap out the ballast for a older 400w PFO tar ballast if recommended, thinking 250w to save on the electric.

Original post updated with manufacturer.

I have mine under a 20K XM SE 400w. When I picked it up 2 years ago I was running a coralvue 400w 14K SE. The Mag sits a little over half way up in the tank.
