I have been using this site for information for many years, and just wanted to say hi. Some of you may know me as the guy with the Bangi Cardinal babies in Syracuse. I have since lost my male so no more babies for now. It is probably a good thing because now I have a pair of seahorses that decide to breed once in a while. I've been able to get some to survive for a couple months, they are around 1.5 inches and they have major appetites.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. The seahorses I have are Hippocampus erectus, tmz how did you get your seahorses off live food? They are only accepting live brine shrimp, will follow but not eat frozen. I do enrich the brine shrimp with Selcon.

I fed them newly hatched brine with the yolk sack for months. I'd gather naupali every pm and put them in a cupfull of tankwater in the fridge( to slow their growth down and the consumption of the yolk) overnight with selcon and feed them to the fry the next day.
It seemed to go on forever. I started to feed mysis ,cyclopeeze and some bloodworm( mosquito larvae) mixed in and ultimately they took to it. I keep them alone in a tank I can safely overfeed( it's plumbed into the 550 g system) and the mysis blow around a little in there. They seem to pefer picking them off as they float by or digging them out of the chaetomorpha I also keep in that tank .

Thanks Tom, I'll try slipping some more stuff in there on them and see if they go for it.
I have them in a 29gal with a hang on filter. I do a large water change weekly because they eat a lot.
