Heteractis magnifica splitting?

They are still attached, it looks like both mouths have healed now so hopefully it will continue to finish the split. I'm hoping that me moving the rock away from the other will encourage it to finish the split, it's been over three weeks now. If it didn't look healthy I would be worried but it has never looked better.

I had a gbta with two fully formed/functioning mouths for over sixth months. It never ended up splitting, I traded it when I went a different route. I would use either mouth to feed, strange little animals(or in your case Large animals). Keep us posted, hopefully it's only a matter of time.

Yah...nothing new as of friday when I had to leave town for work. Ill update wed when I get home.

No... ...unfortunately not much has happened. It moved off the rock I had infront of the main rock it normally sits on and moved half on to the overflow on the back. It then looked like it was going to finally finish the split but still has not. I have a few pics I'll post in a bit.

Not a great shot, I'll try to get a better one tomorrow when the lights are back on.

My 400w 10K XM's just past 11 moths old so I'm going to change them out next week, I'm wondering if that might affect it.

No, I don't target feed it at all. I just let it grab stray mysis during feeding time.

I was target feeding for a while but it was growing way too fast.

Well the last couple days it started roaming and looked like it was going to finally finish the split. It had climbed up the rock-work and the overflow and sat there for a couple of days. I tried to move it but it would not let go and when I tried to force it the flesh started to tear. So after nearly two months I had enough and cut it in the narrowest spot trying to minimize any release of toxins. I also put in fresh carbon and have water change water ready.

Anyway they seem to be doing fine, I don't like where they are but will leave them for now to let the flesh heal.

Also will target feeding 2 times a month be too much? I feed small portions of squid...abt 1 sq. inch

The clowns have a batch of eggs on the rock that the nem was on, you can see them hovering over the rock in this pic.

I have no plans to ever target feed again.

Well it's been 48hrs and they both seem to be doing well and I have not noticed any ill effects on any the fish or corals. So far so good, now I just have to move them back down onto their rocks.

I'll try to get some decent pics tomorrow.

Well done.

Mine has done this twice now. The first time it took 4 weeks to split, the second time it took 6 weeks.

I dont understand why people see the need to try and speed the process up.

If you search my old posts (not many I know) you will find a similar series of photos.
