Hello, I bought this Hawaiian Sand Anemone 2 weeks ago. It is currently on the sand right now. It has been there for pretty much the whole two weeks. It was pure white when I bought it and it still is really white. During the day when the light is on it stays still, but at night the tentacle (i dunno what they are called) things move around and sway. Not sure why. I can't see the mouth most of the time and when I try and put food on it, it doesn't close up and eat it. Should I worry yet? thanks :deadhorse:

if its not deflating i wouldnt worry yet. but it is EXTREMELY bleached. and i would not feed it any time soon. let it recover and gain some color back...

I don't think Hawaii have any host anemone or clown fish

I believe that H. malu can be found occasionally in parts of Hawaii, but obviously without the clownfish. I have seen reports that they are hosts to some juvenile damsels, but no actual proof.

That being said, I am not sure the anemone pictured above is a malu. But if it truly did come from Hawaii, then it is certainly the only hosting anemone option.
