It is from Marineland. Sold thru local fish stores. Not sure where one would be in you area tho.....Canada?

Thanks Bead! I will try to get pics of the new skimmer, new light hood and the electric light hood lift posted tomorrow!

Long overdue update:

Finally have the electric light hood lift mounted, and have changed the light hood itself in the process.

Still have to enclose the lift, and paint the enclosure white to match the ceiling. Also - there is a wireless remote option I want to install, to eliminate one of the the 2 electrical cords.

Looks great - anyway you could put an outlet in the ceiling? I really enjoy my movable lights, make things so easy to work in the tank with the lights out of the way.

T sorry if you have already answered this( I looked and could not find it) but what kind of lift is that and where did you get it? My lights are such a pain in the a.. when ever I want to get into the tank.Would love to have lift to get them out of the way! Real nice build and I agree flow is king for healthy animals. Thanks Mike

BradMugs- thought about the ceiling plug in - but their is not an attic above - it is the next floor of the house, so - I have not figured a way to snake the wiring....Any Ideas?

canyousee- the company is Firgelli Automation. If you search the net for their name - you will find them easily. I used the 40'' lift model that support 200 (?) lbs. Plenty.... And thanks for the compliments! Glad to have you tag along and offer input.

Tee,
Nice work with the light lift, Im able 2-3 weeks from moving into my new house which i will be starting a new 220 build. Ill be sure to send you the link with pics of the house

The pace of my progress may in fact make a snail look like a speed demon...But - a bit at a time!
End shot of the new light fixture:

Notice the LEDs? There are a total of 12 Blue

And notice the mounts they are in? They rotate and swivel - so you can aim them and spotlight areas of the tank if you choose....very nice

These 2 pics are with ONLY 12 watts of LED blue:

And you can see I have finally put the new skimmer in action. ( On the left, on top of the sump) It is a Super Reef Octopus 5000 External. Love it. The old Beckett skimmer took 3.5 amps to really drive it and it was LOUD.....This thing out performs the Beckett, and it is smaller, it is near silent...and it uses a total of only 100 watts! I am tickled witht the quality/quantity of junk it produces as well:

And - as you see, I have been adding some frag systems. Just getting them started up. As well, the Profilux on the shelf - to the right - above the long low breeder tank, on the left, a water change pump takes new salt water from the tall vat on the right, and takes water out of the sump to the drain.
And...In the middle, the the "Daring big pump on the flying trapeeze";) You have to be OLD to remember that song.....:twitch:

My neighbor ran surround sound wiring in the corner of wall and ceiling, and covered it with crown molding. For the center channel in ceiling, he was able to fish into the sheetrock and run parallel with the joists over to where he needed to be. Just a thought.

Thanks Rocket! Sounds like a good idea...will have to figure out how to work in the ceiling tho...there is a finished floor above it.

T

Need to determine which way the joists run. If there is no insulation, it will be easy to fish a snake through. Insulation won't take up all the space even if it is there. I'm assuming your joists are a least 8" tall. Plenty of wiggle room without worrying about the finished floor on top.

I have a friend that is a hobbyist and electrician....maybe I can get him involved...I do know where every piece of wod is in this house ( I designed it, then built it) so that will make it easier. Thanks!
