I would just say....WOW.....I have never seen reefs before. it's been only few months that i am maintaining saltwater. but this thread is moving me towards Australia for a vacation.
Awesome....would love to see more pictures.
Thanks for this great thread. I live in WA state and love tide-pooling and the huge variety of cold-water life we have, but never get to see warm-water species. We have sand-dwelling anemones that are exposed with virtually every low tide (retracted of course). I have always wondered if the cold-water species were just tougher...your thread has been very enlightening! Can't wait for more!
Awesome pics! Can't wait for more. This thread is amazing. Took me a while to get through everything...I can't believe how close you are getting to those blue rings....I'd be sprinting in the other direction.
i read some of this thread but not all thank you for posting this. IMO this is the most educational post or info on the internet. I always try to find where my corals live how deep and water conditions. I have duncans that don't like a lot of light but the ones earlier were fully exposed. Sorry if this has already been asked but have you taken a water sample and tested it. It would be cool to know as much about their natural habitat as possible. This would help us to learn first hand what natural water is around the reef. I'm sure you have tested it but can you post the results. I fish 40-55 miles in the mid atlantic and have tested the water years ago I may grab another sample in a couple weeks and test and document, were going for tuna and mako. its not a coral reef but its like 50 miles from the gulf stream.
