How to keep an Idiot busy...150DD

looks great love the zoa pic . what is that growing next to your caps? a form of halmidia?
Thanks, yes I guess so. It's green so I trim it back when I can reach it.

and those palys are excellent...
Thanks. I'm hoping they'll color up like they were when I bought them.

I really like the rockscape too, it looks awesome!
Thanks. I'll post a better fts soon so you can see the improved placement.

Im curious to the lights being shown in the reflection...are those shop lights of some sort?
I had the top off which holds my reef lighting so I clamped shop lights on the rim so I could see what i was doing and I like seeing the tank under 10k's everything looks so different.

The tank looks amazing! Love the pics!
Thanks. That's most of my reason for this thread to collect pics and see the progress. I'm realising by looking at them that I still constantly moving coral around.
Looks great and awesome pics!
Thanks
Looks great Patrick. Scape is sweet!
Thanks I had to redo it after seeing Hai's tank. Ashley and I both preferred to have the rock in the back to extend up higher so I stacked it against the overflow. I was being alittle optimistic at first and trying to leave a lot of room for grow out like reefbums early tank pics.

The tank looks great, I really like the depth and the aquascape looks great too. You should tell the wife that you were considering her feeling when you bought the tank and that's why you didn't go with the 200dd;)

The clowns are doing great by the way, still fat and happy.

some day i hope to learn the art of proper aqua-scaping. very nice lay out even has coral on the back side

i actually like those zoas as is... id be bummed if they changed on you (again, lol)... they are pretty sweet...

Excellent scaping - it's not just the fabulous rock placement, but the coral placement is top-notch too ! The Sols are also doing a great job with the color & growth.

Did you use rods and/or zip ties on the rocks ?

Actually I was also looking at a standard 120 and she said it was too big lol. The 4' thing just wasn't gonna happen. She did talk me out of the 93 cube knowing I would want to upgrade to soon. Glad the clowns are still fat.

WOW! Very impressive.

Thanks

Thanks. I think I might have to get rid of a few things over the next few months as some of the sps need more room. I want to give my blue milli a ton of space to grow. And no securing the rockwork, The marcorocks lock together pretty good. I hope.

And here's the acans from ffm
IMG_1980-1-1.jpg

I tried to keep the rockwork open under the pile so there would be some flow through it.

Patrick those are some sweet acans. how long did it take for the caps to grow out like they are? off topic did you drop off at fintastics Saturday?

Thanks those ffm acans were from fintastic and they still had a few yesterday. They look darker and have more maroon/purple under regular lighting that pic is under blue+ bulbs. Those caps are about a year and a half old. They were much larger before the tank move I broke the biggest peices off pulling the rock out of the 40 breeder. Right now I'm up to 85% on the AI's and the orange cap started to stn(too much light) but the flower petal cap just gets brighter the more light I give it so I'm just gonna burn the orange cap up. The lower orange cap is fine. And yes I left a frag of halmedia there for you.

i almost grabbed a acan frag from them at ffm but didnt now i wish i did. and thanks for the halmedia.

Looks good Pat! This is Zach, its been awhile. I've done the cardboard mockup thing many a times, LOL!

Hey Zach, did you recognize the side of my head in that pic or half the livestock I posted that you sold me? I don't suppose you remember what that blue gray chalice with the yellow eyes is do you? At least I'm not the only one who does the cardboard thing. I put up some cardboard in the corner of the room so only two sides would have been viewable. But set the tank up so the back was facing the corner and you could view all three sides. It takes up a lot more room that way.

Doing the cardboard thing really gives a good visual. As far as the coral, that was a long time ago. Post a pic, I'm sure I or someone else on here can identify it. I'm rusty with chalices, acros are my thing.

Now in color!

Now in color!

Well I added some more fish, switched to 2 part with some kalk in the topoff, siphoned out alot of detrius out of the sump and dropped my AI's down to 65%. Finally got color I am happy with.

Got that at ffm from Aqua Dreams he said something like platagyra? It's pretty small encrusting a 2" plug it glows under leds better than anything in the tank.
