Hutch's 280 Gallon SPS Build

Hutch you have a gorgeous tank and it's nice to find another CU fan!!! I was raised in Seneca, or at least 17 years of it. Moved there when I was 3, and can say I have been a Clemson fan my whole life! I wish they would of done better this season after how good we did last year, oh well there is always next year and harper and ellington, along with parker should just get better and better. That is if parker doesn't take off to the MLB on us! We just need a receiving core and we'd be awesome. I don't know what we would do without our defense.

Yes, maybe we can get things on track soon. I graduated in '96 and have missed being there ever since! Should be interesting to see what happens this weekend, regardless of seasons, this game could go either way.

Yes it could, as always the CU, USC game can and will go either way, even with the season USC is having. Although Clemson has enjoyed coming out on top the past several years (I think 4 in a row right?). I hate to say it, but I think SC has our number this year. Spurrier has finally got his troops together after all the visor throwing and yelling he could muster :lmao:

Absolutely beautiful set-up.
This thread will be inspiration to many dreaming of building an in-wall/fish-room set-up.
Keep up the good work.

The pics are not bad,we have the general idea, may need it a little closer but I am sure all the colonies will fill the space in time, thought you had the 300 DD tank but I am jealous,a beautiful tank. I have the 225 but the 300 is my dream tank, someday I guess.

Here are a couple of pictures I took this morning....

The tank is looking great Hutch... take more pics of the SPS corals. Then you will have comparisons for the future. More pics please

I really like that arch on the left island. Are you planning on relocating any of the rocks/corals on the sand bed in between the islands?

. Are you planning on relocating any of the rocks/corals on the sand bed in between the islands?

Thank you! Yes, I am planning on removing / relocating the stuff between the islands as soon as I get the frag tanks online. I think I just want to clean that area up between the islands and give the SPS some room to grow.

!

nice pics cs,what kind of camera do you use? Is it true that you cant use the zeovit tech with a refugium?

Great setup. I like what you've done with the newer rock structure. I'm really looking forward to seeing this tank grow in.

Here is a link that discusses refugiums with Zeovit:

I hope this helps. I use a Canon DLSR with a 100mm Macro lens.

Great setup. I like what you've done with the newer rock structure. I'm really looking forward to seeing this tank grow in.

Thank you! Me too!

Impressive build Hutch. I wish I had the space and resources to set up a rig like yours.

I'm planning on setting up my first reef tank soon. I will start a progress thread as soon as I start my build.

Good luck with your new SPS tank!

Hutch - How well are those 65 gal tanks in your ro/di area supplying your setup? I am curious to know if you think they large enough considering evaporation, water changes, etc. or would you go a little larger? Also, is the top tank for ro/di and the bottom for salt mix - I am trying to track your plumbing. Thanks for sharing your setup - it's great.

Very nice build! I would also like to know more about your water mixing setup. Also, what material are you using to mount your RO/DI , ballasts, and other electrical equipment. Is it just painted wood?
