Ok i didn't really buy it... barry gave me some. It is his little contrubution to science. I am currently testing diffrent techniques on aptasia killing, and all of them will be done with items easily found or that you may arleady own. I will post pics and results as i go along. If i find a miricle cure you all will be the first to know. In the meantime i need ideas on how to kill them (please dont tell me Joes juice, Stop Aptasia, peppermint shrimp, butterflyfish ect.) And info on their biology. any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.

Why would you want to kill them? They are one of the best filtering systems ever created.

While this could be true to a point, even to much of a good thing can be bad.

Try liquid calcium injected with a needle.

It works. If you can get them stuck with the needle before they disappear. Can be very trying at times, because they retract very quickly.

How about driving a wooden stake into their hearts or shooting them with a silver bullet or maybe some Holy water.

Seriously, stab them with some kalk and they will probably not come back.

I want to use something i have round my fish cabnet...i dont have kalk;)
and incase any1 is wondering ther are NOT in my tank they r in dixy cups;)

Just keep an eye on them, Ive tried many many things many times and they always seem to come back stronger than ever, it would seem stress may make them propagate.

Maby i will start an aptasia farm in little blue dixie cups.sell em by the dosen as "copperbandbutterflyfish" food.yeahy....lol. Well ron at least i will have plenty more to experiment on. :D

Leave them in the cup long enough and that will probably take care of them.

I only had them a couple of times (knock on wood). I think one success story is do not let them begin to multiply. Once they began to multiply, I had to pull the rock. I could wipe out 2-3 of them, not big numbers. They seemed resistant to everything once they began to spread.

If you want a real challenge figure out how to kill yellow polyps! Now that is something that I consider impossible!!!!

My yellow polyps are about 1 month from meeting their match when they cross paths with green star polyps in my 75g. I shaved GSPs off the rocks last weekend when they started over running the xenia and zoos. The only thing that I have seen stop them so far is a Devils Hand.

Well if you have a copperbanded butterfly like mine it wouldn't do any good. He hasn't touched a single stalk the aiptasia in my tank and I've all but starved the poor thing.

If you can find something that will kill on a mass scale Please post!!

Good luck on the mass scale. I pulled the rock, since it was only one rock, with no attached coral.

I did not want it to look like a putty ball and could never get it with a needle.

If you want to experiment Bginners try the formula I am working with to see if you get the same results. So far it's worked "good" but Im not comfortable telling others to do it just yet as I have no idea of long term effects on the system.

I had a huge one (didnt know any better when I was first starting out so I let it grow and grow) and ended up having to put kalk paste on it to kill it. After that I bought two peppermint shrimp (be careful, get them from a place you trust because you need the true peppermint shrimp) after I put them in the aiptasia were gone the next day and now I don't have a singe one, its been over 3 months.
