the pvc that attaches to the pump and then goes into the cone. How far into the cone do you push the pvc, it fits unil almost until it is in the middle of the cone.

I have mine pushed in all the way and it's working for me. If you go back to page 31, I posted a pic of my skimmer actually pulling a hunk of poo right out of a fish's backside....not really but it does look (and smells) like a cesspoll in my skimmer's cup. :D

Cheers,

He has a great point in that the sicce pumps seem to be very inconsistent. Mine act different every time I turn them on which makes it impossible to tell if any adjustments I've made (water depth etc.) are a step in the right direction. Are the tunze pumps any better in this respect?

Whenever you turn a Sicce pump on or off it will not run (spin) in the same direction. If you look at the Sicce volute it is designed to run better in one direction and not the other. If it runs backwards it draws less air. The only way I can tell if it is not running backwards is to hook a Dwyer air meter to it. I do this every time I turn it on and off.

I-tech 200 with Tunze 9420.04 is AWESOME. Thanks to John and his team for a great skimmer. My Euro Reef RC-180 is officially up for sale.

My buddy in Ft. Worth Tx just got his 200 with the tunze also. I'm so jealous since I couldn't wait for the tunze. I may upgrade pumps, but not sure I need to at this point since my 200 is kicking butt.

Cheers,

This is my new 100. Absolutely love it. Pulls a ton of dark skimmate. I bulit a side cabinet for a gravity sump. Was pretty easy and works well for my set-up. The canister filters have only some carbon in them so they don't become factories for nitrate. They pull the water out of the display tank and then dump it into the sump. I put to hofler gurgle busters in and man they are quiet.

I just ordered a 400 with the Tunze's for my build.

It's only a 120 gal but I have a seperate 20+ gallon skimmer sump and plan on getting a 100-125 gallon sump and a frag tank.

90 gallon fowlr. I have had some of the fish for over 5 years. Just started trying live rock over the last 6 months.

Hey guys great info. on this awesome i-tech skimmer. Can someone please post pictures of their model 400 running or not running with dual tunze or dual sicce pumps. I havent found a picture on one with the dual pump setup. thanks

I'm currently trying to dial in my 100 with the tunze. I have a couple questions I was hoping people could help me out on .

1. at what level (or white dot) do you have the bubbles turning to foam start at. I have tried where the cup meets the main body, halfway up the cup, and near the top of the cup. I'm getting skimmate, but not like when I first set it up last week. Just loooking for some feedback (I curently have mine set at just left of the third dot) .

2. what depth of water do you do?I have tried between 5.75 and 6.125 inches. What are the advantages/disadvanteges of shallower/deeper water?

3. how throughly do you clean the cup after emptying, specifically the neck. It seems like after I cleaned the inside of the neck component on the cup, the skimming is not as good. Should I be leaving this "dirty" after each dumping?

As always appreciate the help..

porterdog,

I cant see which setting my skimmer is on as it is under the stand and the adjustment pipe is in the back.

As for water depth, mine sits in about 6" of water.

The first few days of running my skimmer, it pulled dark nasty skimmate. After that, the skimmate lightened up and production decreased. I attribute this to the skimmer having pulled all the excess junk out of my tank and now is only pulling what is produced. I also run a Zeovit system so there isnt much in the way of excess nutrients in the system.

When I empty the cup, I clean the neck thoroughly. It takes a few hours for the foam to start collecting near the top of the neck after. I think that leaving it (the neck) dirty would inhibit the efficiency of the skimmer in the long run.

My .02 Cents...FWIW
