Ok, I got some requsts for some info to go with the pic. I have about 400 gallons of SPS, Zoanthids, and fish...large Vlamingi, large Naso, large Thompsons, med Purple, large Copperband, 2 Genicanthus, Royal Gramma, 2 Clowns, 2 Yellow Wrasses, 3 Chromis, 12 Anthias...I think that's all. I have an automatic feeder that feeds small pellets and cyclopeze 4 times per day. I feed flakes and large pellets once per day, 1 sheet of roasted seaweed per day, and 3 cubes of mysis per day. The pic is 2 days of slightly wet skimmate.

Man that thing looks NASTY!! :eek2:

Are there any adverse affects w/ the metal screws in the bottom of the skimmer. I'm assuming stainless, but can they break down over time in saltwater?
The screws are Titanium and will not react with saltwater. Well maybe not in this lifetime at least.

Hi there. Just got my I-Tech 100 (small) wet a few days ago. Just for kicks I thought I would put the ATB medium I have (normally on my display) in the sump with my brand new I-Tech small I have for my frag tank (total 80 gallons water volume)

This is the results after about 18 hours of skimming.

And here is the water level of the ATB in the sump

I was quite amazed at how the small I-Tech has held its own on its FIRST DAY of operation against the ATB Medium at about 1/3 times the cost (paid about 1200) and the ATB has the mesh mod. The I-Tech (paid about 450 with the pump) is running the reccomended Aquabee with no mods to it. The ATB has also been running on the frag tank for about 4 days or so at this point.

I am extremely impressed with the I-Tech to say the least.

what does a it 100 cost if I may ask. Just trying to compare it to some of the other cone skimmers out there and one coming out soon. Mojo~

It cost about 450-500 I think with pump.

Unless the price went up since I got mine I'd say closer to the mid 300's. I had a sedra that I'm going to use, but the body itself was about $200.

looks like the price did went up a bit (?)

for what i know, the small (100) is priced @ $300, the medium (200) @ $400 and the large (400) is $500. all price is skimmer only without pump.

Model 100

I'm posting the attached information based on where the discussion has been going on the thread. Note that John is in the process of setting up a web site dedicated to those that are interested in the i-Tech skimmer. The following information was received from John about 10 days ago when I inquired about the i-Tech and I'm no different than anyone else so I'm sure he would send similar information to any potential buyer and answer any questions they may have. He sent similar details on the larger options as well but I'm not going to post them unless someone wants to see them. Obviously, pricing would be subject to change but here is what I was provided about 10 days ago regarding the Model 100 (small).

Model 100 Cone Skimmer:

Cone Base: 6”
Cone Neck: 2 ¾”
Overall Height: 21 ½” (needs an extra ½” clearance for cup removal)
Footprint without pump: 8 ¾” x 6 ½”
Recommended Pumps: DAS EX-1 (AquaBee 2000/1) or ASM Sedra 3500
Inlet: female ¾” PVC pipe socket
Recommended water level: 5 ¼” to 6 ¾” (a stable water level will increase performance and decrease adjustments)

Recommended pumps (pick one)

DAS EX-1 (AquaBee 2000/1)

· Needle-wheel impeller

· Skimmer and pump footprint: 10 ¾” x 8 ¾”

· Airdraw: At startup ~360 lph @ 9w in 6 ¼” depth of water. As the skimmer and pump “break in” I’ve had reports of up to 420 lph.

The Aquabee and this body work very well together, it is the preferred motor. RC's January 2009 TOTM is using the first prototype to this version. Unfortunately, I cannot provide the pump but it can be purchased online from any D.A.S. vendor, http://stores.petorama.net/Detail.bok?no=51. The linked pump will need to be slightly modified for use on the model 100. Instructions can be found here, www.ichthythings.com/images/itech/DASmod.pdf .

- or -

ASM Sedra 3500

· Needle-wheel impeller

· Skimmer and pump footprint: 11 ½” x 8 ¾”

· Airdraw: ~350 lph (with restrictor) @ 23w in 6 ¼” depth of water.

While effective, the Sedra 3500's air to water ratio is not the best. This means that micro bubbles will escape from the body during operation. If you have a baffled sump they should not be an issue. To eliminate the microbubbles a modification to reduce the pump suction inlet can be performed. Unfortunately, this also slightly decreases performance.

The body price of $300 is consistent with what John shared with me at that time (pump and venturi purchased separately).

I'm on the waiting list and looking forward to getting my hands on one. I'm long overdue for an upgrade!

IS there anyway you could take the lids off the cup and measure both the neck of the Itech and the ATB Skimmer. Just wanted to see the difference and the air draw potential. I know they are different. But if you could post a pick of that it would be great. Would like to see the comparison. Thanks in advance for your help. Mojo ~

Yes, the last I heard from John, the I-tech small body is $300.
I have the small with the Aquabee pump and it works great so far! Build quality is great, and customer service from John has been wonderful as well.

PLUS, these are made in the USA.

Anyways, I'd recommend these skimmers.

Is it the "Cone Neck" spec in the skimmer specs?

Model 100: Cone Neck: 2 ¾”
Model 200: Cone Neck: 3 ½"
Model 400:Cone Neck: 4 ½"

Yeah thats right. The 100 is 2 3/4". The ATB Medium I have (its about 2 years old now is ~ 3 3/4". Must be some funky metric size diameter because it looks to be a little over..

not much there yet but here is the link www.i-techskimmers.com

Does anyone know the i.d. of the DAS venturi after it's cut down per the instructions? Also, is it the same diameter all the way to the inlet on the pump or is it only restricted in front of the air inlet?

I got my pump from Willie (Thanks Willie!) and wanted to verify these dimensions before I installed it in my sump.

Thanks,
Chris

So any more word concerning the tunze for the small?
I hooked up my old skimmer pump this weekend hoping for a break in while I waited for a new pump but it overflows too much and have not had a chance to throttle it back.
