Mojo, I'm still taking and processing pics but this is what I have so far.

Is that some sort of pump inlet strainer? Mine didnt arrive with such a piece.

Looks Good,

thorsky, did you need to do anything to allow the tubing to fit on your venturi. Somehow mine doesn't fit since the tubing provided by Itech is quite larger than the stock tunze tubing.

John gave me a small piece of silicone tubing about .25" long to put on the ventury inlet. With that on there, the included tubing is a nice snug fit. Looking at it, I think you could cut a small piece off the included Tunze tubing - in fact that may be what he gave me.

Thanks Thorsky,

I tried that but it was still a little loose. I currently am using the included tunze tubing withiout the muffler and it is still dead quite. Man this skimmer rocks.

Awesome pics. Thank you for those.

Looks like it is pretty well built. What is the neck size if I may ask.
It also looks like the of the cone is welded to the bottom plate. No big issue. just curious.
Thanks again for taking the time to post.
I need to pick up Tunze pump and play with it. It looks like the tunze pump has a volute cover that isnt directional. That is nice. I know Sicce makes the pump so I am sure its a matte rof time before we start seeing a similar pump made by sicce.

The I tech 200 looks be very comparable in size to the ATB 840.

The tank is 120 and I'm shooting for about 180 in the sump, fuge, frag tank etc.

:eek1: ......that's a lot of skimmer(Model 400) for that size tank/system.:D I run right at 200G total system volume also with a lot of sps and a heavy bio-load, the Model 200 I have is kicking butt and barely breaking a sweat. :D I still use the sicce pump and purple pinwheel that's not as good as the Tunze pump you have so you can count on not be limited by your skimmer.

Cheers,

Mojo, these are the stats. I'll take some tape measure pics tonight as I don't know if these are ID or OD.

Cone Base: 8"
Cone Neck: 3 ½”
Overall Height: 23” (needs an extra 1/2” clearance for cup removal)
Footprint without pump: 11 ¼” x 8 ½”
Recommended Pump: Tunze 9420.04
Inlet: ¾” thread PVC pipe
Recommended water level: 6” to 7” (a stable water level will increase performance and decrease adjustments)

For the bottom plate, there is a ring around the cone that's welded on, then a plate that screws in with the bubble plate assembly attached to it. I'll try to get a shot of that as well. ;)

to all those that are wondering. I have the 200 model and it has plenty of room sitting in a standard sized 55 gallon tank with the pump attached.

Mojo, Tunze's new hydrofoamer is completely independant of Sicce. Check out some threads in the Tunze forum.

My iTech 100 is here, unboxed, and but together. SUPERB BUILD QUALITY! Will be installing on Saturday.

I was just wondering about these Tunze Hydrofoamer Silence Pump 9420.040 pumps.
Are they really as good as people have been telling me they are?

One of my fish had some mucas/body slime issues. I purchased some melafix and dosed the recomened amount with my skimmer off the whole time and carbon reactor off as well (for seven days). I did the 25% water change that the melafix product recomended (8th day) and turned my carbon on overnight then the skimmer the following morning. The thing is like a watercannon now. I then removed it thinking maybe a good cleaning. Did this and still have the same problem. What's the problem here, should I do another 25-50% water change? I have the itech 100 on a 120 gallon system. I am not sure if this cool to post in this forum or not, but thought maybe some of my fellow
I-techors could help me out here.

Not an "i-Techor" (yet), but a similar thing happen to another reefer's RS80 skimmer.

Water change would probably help, but I would run a more carbon...like 2 cups of GAC for your system.

That issue isn't skimmer specific, I've had the same issue with both a downdraft and a regular needlewheel. What I did last time was turn off my auto-topoff and just run the skimmer as low as I could. I basically did about a 10g water change with the skimmer, topping the tank off with fresh made salt water as the skimmer sucked out water. It slowly settled down and the foam cannon effect went away. It was easy as the skimmer I was using had a drain. Aside from that, numerous water changes and carbon are the only rememdies I've heard of.

I'm liking the one I got with my i-Tech. It's a stock tunze hydrofoamer so has no bearing on the skimmer. I've played with MAG's, OTP's, Maxi-jet's and a few other pumps for skimmers. Meshing and making pinwheels and all that fun stuff. The Tunze I got goes for $187 so it's pricey, but right out of the box it pulls 30-35 SCFH depending on water height. It also has a non-directional volute which is critical in a pump like this to negate the "Backwards" starting issues. Adding in the fact that Tunze has an excellent warranty and stands behind their product makes this a winner in my mind.

Awesome thank you for your response :)

I am very interested in buying one of these Itecs, the only skimmers I have ever owned have been ASM and Aqua Euro USA skimmers, and while they did their jobs I was never "Wowed" by the skimmers.
I also have my eye on a Euro reef Skimmer, I'm tired of jumping from skimmer to Skimmer brand I don't have have the money to keep that up, So when I buy another Skimmer I want it to be my last.
I would like to ask you reefers who have had other skimmers in the past how would you say these Itecs stack up?
To a euro reef or other top name brand? do they blow their performance out of the sump or do they just do their jobs as well as the Euro reefs or Deltecs ASM ,ect? I keep hearing Cone skimmers are the future of skimmers but I have never seen a side by side compression..
Thank you for any help you can give me :)
