I want a red scooter blenny

Hi URS. I'm dreaming of a red scooter blenny - so cute!

29g DT w/ 15g sump - half of which is fuge with LR, sand and chaeto.

Tank has been up for 4 months. My plan was to seed the fuge with pods and see how well they do, then decide.
Any thoughts on this? I'm thinking it will still be a few months prep, but just wondering if it's do-able at all before I move forward.

Also - another concern I have is my yellow watchman goby - will the two fish clash over territory??

Thanks!

I keep a red scooter blenny (synchiropus ocellatus). It takes frozen cyclopeeze readily as well as mysis. Nice fish; fun to watch. Generally survives better than mandarins( synchiropus picaturus or splendidus , in my experience.

This is good news!
Thanks :)

I have one too Ive had him for 3 1/2 months . Cute fish hops around picking at the rock constantly. I really wasnt looking for one as my tank was too young but when I saw him in the LFS he looked starved. I brought him home and he has since fattend up since. I have dosed the tank 2x with copepods, but Ive never seen anything that tells me they are breeding in my tank. He will take mysis if you can get it right in front of him. He is exceptionally interested in any new frags or rock I put in the tank. not to nip coral more to check new rock for critters. He tends to knock over smaller frags that are not attached

I'd have to agree, unless you can swing a sizeable refugium.

My fuge is half of the 15g sump - filled almost to the top, so about 7g. Is this sizable?
I've read quite differing accounts about people keeping dragonets in nano tanks. Many have been successful (from what they've posted) - but I obviously want the fish to be fat and healthy!

I had one in my 120g reef for about a year before he disappeared. He was always moving around pecking at rocks so I dunno if he starved to death or died of other causes. I saw no signs of malnurishment but he was always a tiny fish so might not have been as obvious.

To clarify my statement from last post, I think that tank would be too small for the fish to survive longterm.
