IceCap 3K Gyre Generation Flow Pump

Been loving mine. Going 2 months with no cleaning and it's quiet. It took a couple weeks before it got really quiet though initially it wasn't that noisy at all. Running 70% max

Did you have Coravue Gyre before or this is frst one? I have Coralvue Gyre and have to clean it every 2 month otherwise flow drops greatly...Huge disadvantage and cleaning is PITA..

Damn i must've jinxed myself! I noticed my pump stopped working at almost 2 months.

It looks clean but I took it apart anyways and have spent an hr on trying to get it to work properly again with no luck.

Seems if I put the grates back on the propellers won't spin. If I leave the grates half way on then they do spin but reduced speed and not the way they're supposed to. Also with grates not fulling in they look like they're dangling.

Anyone have suggestions? I asked for an RMA tonight luckily since I'm still barely under RMA limit.

I'm thinking this thing is a POS now. Was so awesome when it was working normal. Can't believe I wasted over 1 hr of my life trying to get it working again to no avail [emoji20]

Tvu- at this point I assume you got the answer, but if you didn't get the answer -----the bushings are shot...you need new ones from coralvue

I just bought one of these recently and it's been going for two weeks without issue. Easy to setup and program and has more than enough flow to knock around my sandbed at lower speeds. Will see how long it continues.

They are a wear item. Why they could go in two months could be a lot of reasons...if the impeller gets stuck, or improper installation. I'm just point out that that could be the issue. One side of my gyre was not spinning, and that is what it turned out to be. The bushings that go into the impeller that slide on to the ceramic shaft can strip abs the ceramic shaft spins.....

Thanks gweezpie. I didn't have anyone say that so it's good to know going forward. Could they just go bad after just 2 months of regular use?

I have my new 3k gyre running for a few days now. I'm paranoid and constantly checking for flow and signs it's still working. Not a good feeling to have to constantly worry if it's working as it should.

Did you replace the bushings with the spare set included in the box?

I exchanged it for a new one while I could. Didn't know about the bushing plus was barely within exchange timeline and didn't want to go over and have to deal with coralvue directly.

1 week going strong so far... currently trying to register for warranty after reading post (i lost the spare bushings to the pump fml)

Mine has been doing great. After it finally broke in. Took couple weeks to get quiet. They recently posted the tear down video. I need to take mine all the way apart and clean it real good. I have only clean the impellers and cages last week.

Im still running in alternating mode. 60% forward and 50% backward. on longer timers. Dont remember how long off hand. Think its 5 or 10 minutes on the extremes. I really like this gyre now though.

Any more longer term use reports?

I still love mine! I think I was one of the first on here to purchase one of these. I've had it for just over 3 months now and my tank inhabitants and myself are very happy. I've only had to take it apart one for cleaning so far. Its probably due again and perhaps today I will do that. Its still very silent and I have not had a single problem with it.

Well worth the money IMO!

Ive had mine for just over a month now and I and my tank inhabitants love it as well. Still super quite and easy to use. I have mine changing between 5 different patterns though out the day which was easy to setup too. I am going to take it apart this weekend and clean mine as well. We will see how that goes but over all this was a great purchase.
