If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

I have been researching the damsels and they say they are peaceful and like to school kind of like chromis...so i thought they'd be fine

Do you have any experience with a lemonpeel angel? Could i keep them onyl with soft corals or would LPS do fine too?

Never dealt with lemonpeels, I know that they are good for the smaller tanks. A lot has to do with their personality (go figure right?) Like the flame angel they are supposed to be non reef safe but many successfully keep them in their tank and as long as they are happily kept fat they leave the corals alone.

Hi everyone, just introducing myself! I have a recently-cycled 75-gallon Fluval aquarium with about 40 pounds of live rock, 4 Turbo snails, and three damsels. I haven't quite memorized all the "stats" -- eg, what kinds of lights I have, how you'd describe my filtration system -- but I'm so excited to be starting this hobby and can't wait to learn more! Thanks for providing such a wonderful resource.

Good luck with your new 75.

New to RC. I have a 90g fowlr, hob filter, 85lbs live rock, 3"bed, asst of fish. That setup about 6 years old, just bought a 155 tank I'm setting up. Hope to get lots of info here.

A 155 is a good step up, you'll be really happy with the extra space.

Hello! I've kept freshwater fish for quite a while and would like to give saltwater a try. I'm still researching fish, tank sizes, etc. to figure out what I have room for and can afford to maintain. I'd love to have a huge FOWLR with a Porcupine Puffer and/or a reef tank with sea horses, but there's still a lot of planning/research I need to do before buying anything.

I'm a little worried about my floor being able to hold a 100-120gal tank for a Porcupine Puffer. I've got a 2nd floor apartment in a building that's probably at least 30 years old. I asked my landlord if there were any aquarium restrictions and there aren't any (my old place had a 30 gallon limit...but didn't put a limit on the number of 30 gallon tanks you could have). The guy at my local fish store seemed to think that most landlords are more concerned about water damage from leaks/overflow than they are about the weight, but I'd hate to have my tank crash through the floor.

I would agree that they are more concerned with water damage, if you want to be sure your floor will hold it you can get a hold of a structural engineer and let them asses the situation

Hello everyone. I'd like to thank everyone for there questons and answers in the forums. I've learned so much the last 6 months that I have been reading. I started the SW hobby in August 2009 and have been hooked ever since. I added some pictures of my tanks progression to my album and thought I would finally throw a post out here. If you wish take a look.

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and returning to the hobby aftera 10 year hiatus, (raising five daughters). I started with aquariums in the 6th grade, back in the 60's, when a girl in my class gave me a jar full of guppies. All of my experience is with freshwater tanks, especially Oscars. I also worked at a popular fish & bird store called 'The House of Tropicals' here in Maryland. I want to give saltwater a go this time around, so wish me luck.
A big thanks goes out T-Boner for pointing me to this forum and for all his input.
Best Regards,
Gobby/Buddy

Thanks for the Welcome Sisterlimonpot. I do have a question. Sand sifting stars are not reef compatible ?? He's one of my favorites. Do they eat corals ?? Cause once I get enough live rock in the tank, and I don't kill anything, I'd love to try some easy corals. And of course I'll need more light.

Those are some great pics, I really like the progression of the start of the tank to where it's full of coralline, thanks for sharing.
