If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hey guys! Thanks for the welcome!!! Well, I have decided against the used 110 system, but have found(I know, I know...) another system that is used, but set up and running! It has everything working, I was wondering if there was a possibility that I could post pictures and maybe get some help on what people think about the way that they have it set up. Also, how hard is to move an established tank? It is 55 gallon, well here is the description:

looking to sell beautiful 55 gallon salt water aquarium and stand with hood also includes: wet/dry filtration system, protein skimmer, 4 power heads, all accessories and contents of tank will email pictures for interested buyers could not get them to load properly. we may be moving soon and will not be able to take the tank with us.
Here is some more info.

there are 6 fish included : flame angel, hippo tang, yellow tang, bangkok cardinal, scooter blenny, red lipped blenny, and a black and white clown. there is a sand sifting star fish, a horseshoe crab, fire shrimp, a rose sea urchin, 2 spiny urchins, various snails and hermit crabs, and some coral, hammer coral, finger leather, mushrooms, and a few others that have multiplied. there is a protein skimmer, bio ball wet/dry filtration system, satellite lighting, 4 power heads, tank, and stand with hood, please let me know if you have any other questions,

They are asking $850, for everything, and the above is some more detail I received.

Let me know what you guys think!

Hello Reef Central Community:
I am new to reefkeeping. Major Newbie! So new that I have no aquarium yet. I had a fish only s/w tank for about 10 years and want to at least work up to a FOWLR. Reading and seeing a lot of knowledge here on RC and also on Wet Web Media. I actually had a 2 gal. aquar. with a Mandarin Goby in it for about a month. Of course, I now see what all the screaming is about rel. to Mandarins. Very beautiful but way more demanding than most people even dream of. I LOVE looking at each "Tank of the Month!" I am astounded by the number, size, and color of some of the hard corals in peoples' tanks. You might see me posting around here. I thank you folks in advance for answering some really stupid questions from yours truly.

a fowlr tank is a good way to start--it will give you time to read up on corals, filtration methods and reef chemistry

suggest you start your own thread and post the pictures there--that way they won't get lost in such a long thread like this one.
One of the easiest ways to post pictures is to take out an account(an album) on www.photobucket.com. Upload the pics from your computer to photbucket and then copy and paste the "img" code into your posts here.

Hello

Hello

Hi , my name is Jon and I am on the 3rd step to a 12 step aquatic addiction! First off...Thanks for all of you that post here! From the classifieds, that have found thier way into my home, or the very very helpfull suggestions and answers to others questions that I have also had. It's reaaaaallly sped things up in the patience world.
I have a 49g corner, ehiem filtration, 2 koralia #2's, halide with moons, Fiji live, established sand, great water samples and started adding 2 damsels, 1 clown( and it's anenomie ), 2 engineer gobies, 1 watchmen gobie and it's paired pistol shrimp. 1 banded shrimp, 3 turno snails, 3 emerald crabs, 10 red leg scarlet hermits, 2 tree coral frags, 3 zoa frags and a couple mushrooms. My wife and I love it! My dogs aren't sure yet and the neighbors are hoping that the glow in the living room isn't from havesting alien eggs.
ClaytheSavageFraser has been an asset and a great resource. Without his help I am sure I would have many tradgedies and unwanted expense. If there are other newbies out there looking and haven't jumped in yet, I would suggest a mentor or become a sponge to the knowledge here first ...for awhile. Patience is key and without it the door to success is locked.

Creationreefer,

That is fine as you were just asking if people thought the $850 was a fair price to pay.

Hi Jon
[welcome]

Sounds good as long as those damsels don't get a attitude problem. It also seems like you have a lot of pod eaters so you might consider establishing a refugium.

New reefkeeper here from Los Angeles. Just about ready to start up my new nano-reef tank. Hope to gain some expert knowledge on this hobby because I'll definitely need all the help I can get!

I empathize with you. I used to live in Sand Diego somewhat near you. Now, I am in the heart of reefkeeping land, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Are you doing the nano thing to save space, money, or time? I am trying to decide which way to go - nano or full blown 70 to 100 gallons.
Best of luck to you with your nano reef.

Nope, I just prefer larger tanks to nano's. I'm kind of a fish type guy and you just can't have many, if any, fish in a nano.
