Hi everyone,

I had 2 tanks about 15 years ago during my teenage years. Equipment was very different back then. I;m getting back in to things with a 60 gallon cube for my son and planning a 460 gallon tank for my business.

Hello my name is Alex and I'm new to saltwater reef tanks. I have had a couple freshwater tanks but always wanted a reef and decided to do it. I bought a 55 gallon tank with a carbon hang on back bio wheel filter. I just started the tank and used live sand and plan to use love rock to get some corals going. And suggestions on circulation pump flow and I was also wondering about protein skimmers?.. Necessary or not I've heard both ways... thanks any help is appreciated

Alex,

I'd go with a protein skimmer if you want to have a few fish in there....it is only going to help. As for flow, depending on what corals you want on your reef, turning the tank volume over (total water flow from all powerheads) a good 15x minimum is a good place to start with a reef. Corals can't swim around and NEED flow to keep them clear of crap floating around in the water.

Hola RCs!

Hola RCs!

Saw this thread, thought I'd introduce myself. I am attempting to get a FOLWR setup going and am experiencing issues. More on that in a thread of it's own. This has been a new endeavor for me, starting out with Green Spotted Puffers. I've got a 36" bowfront aquarium, hob AquaClear 70, Eheim Jager TruTemp 250 Watt heater, cheapo, SUNSUN Circulation Pump 800 GPH and a separate 3 gallon hospital/quarantine. Great to meet you all and I look forward to contributing to RC in the future.

Returning aquarist in Pittsburgh

Hello all,

I'm Robert. I've been keeping fresh and saltwater aquariums for many years on and off but haven't had an active tank setup since 2006. I've just started up two new tanks, a 30 gallon and 12 gallon, both nano reef (or will be).

I'm also new to Pittsburgh so I'm getting used to where the best local stores are.

RD.

Hey guys! New here as well. I used to have a small freshwater aquarium back when I was a kid, but have always wanted to try salt water. I currently have a 15gal tank with some small zoa frags a 2 headed duncan and some clove polyps.

New?

New?

I am not really new just have a new name. Clean Slate? Anyway. I have had tanks for years. Currently I have my 29 gallon Nano with three fish because my 125 gallon cracked while moving. I have purchased my first drilled tank and will be setting it up over the next few months. So the new adventure is beginning.

Hello everyone, I figure I would write here adter many failed attempts to write a question and it would not post, I'm new to the Hobbie of reef keeping, o live on the Kentucky area more specific lexington.

Hi, Robin here. Still consider myself a beginner though I have had a small reef tank for about 3 1/2 years now. Started with a biocube 14 in May 2012. It sprang a leak this March and we replaced it with a Biocube 29. Added a Fluval Spec5 for a QT early this summer. We are starting to research large tanks and learn about sump systems - my husband thinks he wants a 125, I am trying to talk him down to a 75 since I will be the caretaker. After freshwater tanks for 40 years, love the reefs!

Whats up RC! My name is Clint, I am 19 years old, and I am pretty new to this hobby with only about 6 months of experience. I became interested in it back in January when I visited my LFS to get supplies for my many freshwater tanks. I decided to take the DIY route to save money due to being a full-time college student. I now have a 20 gallon high with a 10 gal sump and an integrated 2.5 gal refugium. I started off with two clowns, a royal gramma, a cleaner shrimp, and a few corals. Today my tank is looking great, and I am very proud of it! I still have a lot to learn so I am very excited to be apart of RC!

Hello everyone, my name is Thomas and I am from the North of France!
I started with a 100l fresh water, then 60l where I had carinotetraodons, shrimp, etc ... I currently have a 900l for my American cichlids, and it was time that I wanted to get into the sea water ... and I fell for a red sea max 250! I put water there is a new week with half water and half water tank of a friend, bacteria and pv with many cuttings! Since my water had no chlorine, nitrites or nitrates I cracked a Culcita! I want to do for now or a FO I intend to grow for 2 years blackspotted puffer, echidna, pterois, etc ... soon to happen to 800l!

Hi! I just started a 29 gal saltwater tank. I hope to make it a reef and fish tank with living rock. I've got the living rock and synthetic sand in and I'm cycling the tank.

Hey there everyone! I'm Kyle and I'm from Ohio. I'm definitely new to the hobby, as I have only had a few smaller fresh water tanks growing up. I recently got a 90 gal set up that was used for salt water fish in the past from a guy I knew. I intend to make my own thread tracking the progress on it and probably getting plenty of help from you all! :)

Hi folks !

Hi folks !

New to the hobby. But, can't get enough. Having some great results @ 9 months in, with a slightly diverse population. Have read a lot of posts about the GSP/Leopard puffer. Love these guys. But, I seem to read more warnings about them, than good things. Maybe i'm trying to start a thread, maybe?
Puffer names are:
