Hi to you al at RC, A newbie tank needs you help please.

Hey Everyone. Can you help please , I am 3 weeks and 1 day into a new cycle, I had a marine tank before I emigrated 9 years ago but this is the first for many years. I have air bubbles underneath my rock. And I never seen this before. Please any advice.

Hey guys, my name is Brady and I've been researching/dreaming about having my own reef tank for many months now. I've been reading the forums a lot, but I don't post much. I tried posting a new thread in the Tank Builds section of the forums but I don't think it worked or an admin kept it from showing up in the thread list. Do I need to make a certain amount of replies to other posts before I can post my own thread? Thanks in advance for any help. I'm eager to show you guys what I made!

Hi Nice to be part of another Reef Forum I am UK based and been reefing for just over a year the bug has really bitten from a tiny 24 inch sit on the desk cube with a couple of clownfish and CUC and hang on the side Red Sea Prizm Skimmer. I went to a Juwel Marine think you guys would call it a 90g (internal filter bah and a rubbish Juwel Skimmer which was replaced with a excellent Deltec MCE 600) started with Juwel T5's but the tank was like a boiling pot so got the covers off and converted to LED's (Evergrow Pro Reef it2120's) this is a softy tank been running about a year looks pretty nice with decent growth.

Probably spent a few thousand on stock and equipment and had decided that was it. That self control lasted all of about 6 months due to ending up sending back some rubbish furniture we found we had a bonus $1500 (about £1000) and luck would have it some one was selling a entire fish set up.

The main tank was a Tridacana 160 (about 160g) which came with live rock, a few fish a few bits of coral, Red Sea Skimmer , Aquamedic Calcium Reactor, Pro Skim Skimmer, Deltec Phos Reactor and numerous pumps (Eheim) powerheads etc. On top of that there was two extra tanks for setting up a fragtank both 4ftx1ftx1ft and a QT tank which came with DIY lights, and all equipment. Its a stunning tank and slowly getting to grips with cleaning, cleaning, understanding how new stuff works and adding new bits and pieces.

Two fairly decent sized tanks in what you guys would call a small apartment means its living by the sea with a beautiful tropical outlook. The journey and the addiction continues and its going to be fun being part of your forum. Thanks for having me!

Hey everybody, as you can see I fell off the wagon a while ago but intend to get back on.

I had 2 tanks (125g FOWLR and 35 FOWLR) and neither one of them really survived having the house tented despite excessive preparations. The bigger tank got so sad looking I took it down and gave the tank away (it was an old acrylic all-in-one that was damaged by a variety of events, including a guess scraping the algae off with sand under the scraper, etc) but we still have the custom stand.

Anyway, my wife who wishes she were scuba diving right now insists that I get a new tank for our stand and get that puppy up and running before her birthday in September, so here I am again. I interpret that as meaning "fewer budgetary constraints than normal" :D

Hello Everyone, I finally decided to Join a Forum after being in this hobby for about 3 Years. Don't get me wrong I'm not an expert. I know theres still many things for me to learn. I currently have a 180 Gallon Set Up.

Hi guys, I'm Nick from Pennsylvania. This is actually not my first thread ever, I just created an account after using only thereeftank.com. I actually found myself using Reef Central more often than the RT, so it only makes sense to switch :D

I'm working on my first tank, which I've had for almost a year (started cycling in May 2015). Never thought I'd get so into the hobby. Amazed every single day by something new I learn about the hobby. I've got a 10 gal with 2 young clowns that are still fighting for dominance (although its getting pretty obvious). Clean up consists of 5 snails and 4 hermits and one emerald crab. Trying to keep a small zoa frag rock and a mushroom, I started way to early into the tanks life but I'm pleased to say that they're FINALLY looking happy and are growing.

I guess that's it! Please check out my other post here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=24393721#post24393721

Hey what's up guys. I'mnew here to the forum. I've been in the hobby since the beginning of last year after going to an lfs looking for some cool fish for my freshwater 36g tank. It was a saltwater only store and they talked me into giving it a shot and I've loved it ever since. I started with my 36g tank. Then went to a 90g reef ready tank. Then I went to a 150 with a 55g sump I made. Now i just finished setting up a 180 predator tank.

What's going on RC! Well I'm relatively new to saltwater still in the process of building my tank however I've been doing tons of research on the subject for the last few months, I got a few more ends need tying, Then we going to drop some water in this bad boy. I have a 45g long tank with one 10g sump and one 10g refugium. Still not 100% sure on exactly how this is going to play out but got a pretty good idea on the direction. I look forward to moving on with this build and sharing some pics along the way, and maybe meet some like minded folks in the process.

new again

Hi there,
im back in the hobbie after a long break travelling but now back home and back into it, I re-started with a small reef tank which i have had for around 9 months, i have just purchased a tank which is 57x24x32 (32 height).
i have a 80ltr sump, it will be a reef tank again and i would like it to be mixed reef but i would like it to have quite a few sps, i will use the sump as a refugium after i give the whole system a good clean to hopefully help with keeping the ph stable and to keep up a copepod population.
I have a few queries about lighting, circulation and DSB, Lighting wise i am thinking of either radions or hydra 26 hd, im thinking i will need 3 hydras for the tank dimension ? as for circulation, all though i would love MP40's, i am thinking of something a little less pricey, as for the DSB, i have spoke to a couple of LFS, one is very pro one is not as they said it will lead to problems later down the line. Ive also looked into miracle mud and marine pure blocks, Bio balls and even a zeolite reactor, any help and recommendations would be appreciated and as its a bit of a jump up in size and would rather get it right first time :fun4:

I'm a newbie to the saltwater wonderland. I hope to make some friends with some awesome peeps and just have a good time doing this hobby. I have started a 27gal Tank. Let's see it after it cycles. Hope to meet and chat with everyone.

Hi All,

I'm interested in creating a specific project. It is a 20" tall, 10" diameter blown glass cylinder pico reef tank.

The idea started with two 10" diameter x 14" cylinder glass vase freshwater aquariums to make a test of aquaponic window farm that looks gorgeous. For this, I have the vases with two bettas and then became distracted with freshwater shrimp, so now have a 5 gallon aquarium for them and snails.

Then I saw the sexy shrimp and how gorgeous the coral reef picos are so it has my interest up. It doesn't fit in at all with the aquaponic window farm idea, but saltwater is required to breed nerite snails, and brackish for breeding amano shrimp, so this is how the hobby expanded. Not sure I'll be getting fully involved in the hobbies, husband is not a big fan. But it is okay as long as the tanks don't smell (I've never had a smelly aquarium).

So, I'm interested in following those who have picos (read all about the 5 years and going pico with sexy shrimp), learning more and when I feel confident that I will not accidentally kill anything, I may dive in.

Hello RC community. My name is Derek and I live in La Grange IL. just outside of Chicago. Been in the hobby for a long long time and currently running a mixed reef in an old school 90g half circle setup. Patiently waiting on a delivery from SC Aquariums with a new starfire 100g rimless, which was the direct result of reading some great threads on RC! Looking forward to getting some good advice as a lot has changed since I set up my 90g and also sharing my new build.
