Hello, my name is Bob Piker. I'm a watch collector and Accutron watch repair person and have a very logical approach to just about everything. Quite a computer background, too, before becoming a watch repairer. I had many freshwater aquariums in my pre-teen years (I'm 45 now) but it has been many years and decided to jump back full-force with my first ever saltwater aquarium. I have a 48" aquarium all set up now with about 20 lbs of live rock and 60 lbs of live sand. I've had it running for over a week with 2 Penguin 170 filters and bio-wheels. I'll probably leave one running for carbon filtering but I just purchased an AquaC Remora protein skimmer with a 1200 Maxi-jet pump and pre-skimmer for good measure which I'll drain to a separate container below the aquarium. I haven't taken any measurements besides temperature yet and will do so shortly after putting in so more live rock next week. There is currently nothing alive in my tank and I'm not in a hurry until I'm confident all is set up according to recommendations. I would like to have some easy to take care of corals added later and a few fish. I'm thinking 5 or 6 with some hermits and a couple of starfish. Any recommendations would be wholly appreciated. As a newbie, I know that there is a lot I need to learn but I'll be attacking this project voraciously because my kids have been after me to set up a beautiful aquarium and it's my excuse for jumping back into the hobby after so many years. Thanks, again. Bob
