Good Morning Reef Central! My wife and I walked into our local fish store yesterday to learn and we wound up with a previously functioning 30 gallon SW tank with LED lighting. We are brand new to the hobby, save for a small 3gallon freshwater tank years ago and this will provide the perfect learning experience. I'm looking forward to drawing from everyone's knowledge. Thank you

Hope Im in the right place. I'm jumping head first into my first salt water aquarium. Ive purchased a 180gal glass tank, built a stand and canopy have watched hundreds of videos on glass drilling. Im going to move slow on this project since I have a son who plays travel hockeyand cash is a little tight. Im very handy at building anything. I want to incorparate reef and fish into my tank. I'm looking for a mentor with paitence willing to help me put things together. Thanks reefers

not new but been gone a looong time

I've been a member since 2008 but have been out of the hobby for a while so I am back and wanted to introduce/ re-introduce myself. I am Valerie and am from Fort lauderdale, Fl I moved here from GA about a year and a half ago and gave away my 110 when I moved, but now Im back and just have a 55g. Not much yet but starting it back up. I would love to meet anyone in the area.

Hello!

Hello!

hello RC, my names Joe and I'm pretty new to this hobby I got started in febuary 2011 and its been nothing but obsession ever since. I started out with a 30g fowlr then moved on to a 55g reef (which i still have setup) and then i custom built a 40g breeder setup (still up and going) and my current project is setting up a 125g and combine it with my established 40gb. this new setup is going to be intense! please check it out at

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2199613

this setup im going to try and keep running as long as i can and if i build anything else it will probably be in wall when I buy a house.

when i get the 125g project up and going im going to sell my entire 55g setup

Hey Everyone! I'm Joey. I've been a member for a little while, but just recently started participating now that I have set up my 57 gallon tank. It has been up and running for about 3 months now and so far everything has gone pretty well.

Hello RC members!

I recently became interested in setting up a nano-reef tank due to my girlfriend's severe interest in aquariums. There's definitely a lot of information that I need to learn/read and I look forward to putting together an awesome nano-reef setup. I'm also interested in doing a frag tank as well to help offset the costs of running our tanks.

Would anyone be able to direct me to any additional resources to aid my learning? Also, is there some sort of magical comprehensive list of corals that I could read through so I know what I want to set up my tank with?

Thanks in advance!

Denzil

Hey RC, my name is Syed and I have been keeping fw fish for 8 years or so. Looking to make the move to saltwater. I'll be jumping in the deep end by setting up a 260 gallon mixed reef. I will be taking my time but will be on here a lot to learn and give updates. Looking forward to getting to know some of you as well as learning a ton about salt setups.

Hi, I re-started my tank about 6 weeks ago. I had it in CO. 10 years ago. When I first started I was at the mercy of the local fish store, when it came to buying/info related to my tank. I'm glad there are communities like this. I have a 55gal FO setup. About 25-30 lbs of live rock. 10 gal sump. I have a few questions about specifics with my tank. Do i ask here?

New to the RC

Hey everyone, new to the forum here. I have been doing saltwater for about 4 years now. Started out with a 14 gallon biocube and have moved on to a 40 gallon reef tank now with 10 gallon sump. :wavehand:

Hello to all,
I'm not new to the hobby of keeping fish but I am new to saltwater. I have looked around and this seems to be the best of the forums. Here is what I have.... Standard 55g tank
AquaticLife 48" T5 HO 4 lamp fixture with LED
2 Koralia 425 power heads
2 Cobalt MJ-1200 power heads
Eheim Pro Canister Filter ( I just have blue floss filters in it)
Remora AquaC HOB protein skimmer
50 lbs. Fiji Liverock
45lbs. aragonite.
2 ocellaris clowns

I set up the tank a week ago. I used Instant Ocean Salt and tap water along with some Novaqua. I let sit for two days. I then added 50lbs of Fiji Live rock (not cured accept for one piece) and I dumped in a bottle of birospira. My water temp. is steadily between 79-82. Salinty is .0024. I am using RO water for top offs. I let that sit for two days and introduced two ocellaris clowns. I plan on making this a reef tank. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciate. Thanks to all!!!

New to SW

New to SW

Hi all, another member newly interested in SW tanks.

My experience is in FW. I had several FW tanks years ago, and recently set up another to get back into the hobby. Was much fun, and now it's on autopilot, for the most part.

My wife and I think SW animals are simply beautiful. I'm looking forward to sitting with live rock in a tank for a few months, just to watch the hitchhiking critters make themselves at home. And to be creeped out by the bristleworms; I just can't get used to the look of those things. They'll take a little time to grow on me.

Thanks for the great site and great discussions! Consider this my first post to 50, so I can see the nifty things members have for sale.

Greetings everyone,

I'm in the midst of gathering lots of information for a future saltwater tank. My 10 year old son started a 20G freshwater tank earlier this year, and we have enjoyed it so much that I'd like to start a saltwater aquarium. Been spending the last couple months reading and gathering information, and hope to learn from all the experience here.

Right now, my plan is to put together a 75-100G FOWLR tank, which hopefully will evolve over time to a full reef tank.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here. Thanks!
