I'm back.

Last year I was posting a lot in this forum until this happened.

This is what it looked like before the bottom glass broke, and killed just about everything.

I was totally disheartened by the tank breaking, and said I would never get a LARGE tank again. Well, I recently had a chance to buy a 225 (72X30X24) gallon tank from a local guy that is moving, and couldn't resist. The new tank will have a 75 gallon sump, Sequence Barracuda pump for closed loop, Gen-X PCX-40 return pump, and 2 DIY (ER 8-2 clones) skimmers. Lighting will be a 6' hood with 3 250 watt 10K MH and 2 96 watt PC actinics.

This is the basic layout so far. I will take pictures of the actual tank later and post them.
The stand is being finished with a faux brown leather look.

What caused your original tank to break?

Your current tank is very nice. I like how clean it is. I am sure that this new tank is going to be incredible.

Looking good i know how frustrating this hobby can be sometimes. Glad you sticked with it! Can't wait til you get the new bad boy rolling!

The old tank was drilled in BAD places...in the middle of the bottom of the tank. The weight from all the rock cracked the bottom. The new tank is drilled in the back...not the bottom, except for the drains which are inside the overflow box.
Here are a couple of pictures of the new tank progress. I hope to get it plumber this weekend, and start putting water in next week.

This is the only stand I've seen with doors on the end. I wish mine had these as it would allow me to use a bigger sump. I had to settle for what would fit through the doors on the front and "twist" it around to get it to sit flat.

I got the plumbing finished last night. The closed loop is plumbed to 4 1" outlets using Oceans Motions OmniFlex. I really like these. Much better than the loc-line I have used in the past.

very nice. i woke up with a huge hole in my 125, got discouraged but started right back up.

i would suggest re-siliconing the front two edges with the tape and spoon method. then your tank will look almost brand new.

reefinmike...I actually just did that...resiliconed with tape and a tongue depressor. Looks 100% better. Am on my way to Lowe's now to pick up some ice maker tubing to connect to the RO/DI...and start filling this baby up.

A method much like the tape and a tongue depressor method but better 'n the tape and tongue method.
