gator I guess you haven't been really reading his postings
or you would know Mike messed up his back almost a year ago. My tank is almost a debacle to his . when I started to build mine I asked Mike what he would do different. His reply he would've made it a couple inches shorter. Here's a picture of me maintain my tank I have good back and it is difficult for me to maintain . To gain access.
I think you should take up Mike's offer for you to inspect his tank to realize you are totally wrong !!!! I would love to say some more but due to reef Central's rules and regulations I will not say anymore but you know what I mean!!!!!!!!!!
Tom, it's 25".Originally posted by GlassReef
Sorry if you've already mentioned it Mike, but I would be interested in the total height of your new skimmer?
Seems to be working very well. I am still only testing with fresh water, though. I've stopped and started it dozens of times - you know, trying to simulate power outs and such. Works perfectly every time. Once the siphon channel gets going, it really sucks some water down that pipe! I set up my open channel about 1/2" higher than the siphon channel. I feel it forces the siphon to start faster. It is important to have a good valve on the siphon channel. Let's you more accurately adjust the flow. You want to get it so that just the siphon is working, with the open channel as backup. I don't really see a need for valves on the other channels.Originally posted by mflamb
Tom, how does the overflow setup seem to be working? I'm going to use that setup in an overflow box on each side of the 300.
