Is this snail eating my clam?

Is this a predatory snail?? Is he eating my clam? Are those eggs he is laying, the strands? Please let me know, If he is how do you get him off, Should i put him in refugium?

Both clams looked GREAT last night!! Snail and clams have been together for over 8 months and I havent seen the snail bother anything.

Could be a predatory whelk but the pics need to be more up close.

Get that snail out of there. Looks far too much like Cymatium sp., it is on the mantle side, and it is better safe then sorry.

My guess it is definitely a Muricidae type.

Anyhow, traveller7, yes, you're right on the money regarding a Muricid. (Not a Ranellid, which includes Cymatium sps.)
It appears to be an Apple Murex, Chicoreus pomum (Gmelin, 1791).
