Italian Tank of the month (year maybe) - PICS intense

Pfft,
Do you have any pictures before he put his corals in? I'm interested in how he made his rock structure. Thanks.

Incredible. What a marvelous display of all the time put into that beauty! Personally, I like things crowded like that, but I just wish there weren't so many colorful corals and perhaps a dark background. It needs more constrast instead of a huge mob of color, but that's JMO, and either way, that tank is gorgeous and a TON of work has obviously been put into it!! And if the owner of it is happy with it, that's all that really matters anyways :) .

I have a feeling it probably started out "open" but became "unopen". The only thing to do is get a bigger tank or make a couple thousand in frags selling!

What size H&S is he running?

H&S 200 3x2001

hmm my translater must have got confused, either that or he has found the secret to amazing reefs, a soccer reactor!

"For integration of soccer I use is a reactor of Deltec PF600 loaded with coralline Jumbo (Korallen Zucht) that a reactor of Kalkwasser of the Deltec KM500. As idrossidi for kalkwasser the use, are that one of soccer is that one of magnesium in a relationship of 8:2."
hehe

Don't worry about the translation, just don't use the pictures without asking permissions.

The tank have a 1/4" CC bottom just in front of the rocks .

I'll ask the owner if he has some pictures of the original aquascape (I think he posted once on our forum).

Thanks i1justin. I enjoyed reading about the tank well reading about the bathtub anyhow :)

as I said I love the tank thanks again pfft

I have to disagree with some people saying this tank, and other like it are not natural looking.

Have you ever looked at a 6'x2'x2' section of a coral reef? It looks just like this tank. Nothing but coral. A reef crest does not have big open space with sand beds.

Are we trying to replicate a small piece of the reef or the whole ocean? If the latter is the case, I want to see a tank, with an outer reef slope, a reef crest, a protected inner reef, a shallow lagoon, a mangrove habitat, .... High and low tide, etc etc etc.....

Great tank BTW!

i understand your point, but instead of taking just a little piece of the ocean and trying to create that section. but the other way of seeing it, is that sometimes tank IS the entire ocean, therefore having some room to swim and some rockwork with corals.

anyway, im more interested in how he keeps it running. i like the concept of the reflectors. as im thinking 1 bulb in a dimond reflector is like having 3 on normal reflectors. makes sense to me.

personally i dont like his aquascape. i think it was better done in one of those japanese tanks posted a while ago.

No need to thank me .. I just thought it worth ...

If some of you need some correct translations (google stinks a bit for those) feel free to ask me and I'll try to do my best.

It's really an amazing tank from many points of view! Great job Alessandro! Hei, I know that man

As far as aquascaping is concerned, I still think that Steve Weast is no. 1, and Richard Harker is no. 2 :D . They both made something very close to a specific reef zone.

But to be honest, when you see Alessandro's tank the only word you can say is... WOW, no matter if it looks like a candy store, or a pile-o'-rocks or whatever.

I think that there's a trade off between "natural looking" and variety of species of contrasting colors.

BTW, japanese tank are good examples of the art of aquascaping, I love them, but are those bonsai-reefs also natural looking tanks?

EVC bulbs: check Sanjay Joshi test, it seems that the spectrum is very very complete, no "holes" in it, no integration required.

GH method: Alessandro switched back to the zeovit method, he just tried the other one to improve growth. I'm sorry I have no more info on the GH method, but I won't be worried about it... :D

reef rubble...those are mogul bulbs at ocean encounter...not hqi...anyone know a source for those evc 10k400whqi's???

Sorry, I have 400 watt mogul bulbs. I must have been sitting on my brains. They might be able to order them for you. I plan to try the 400 watt moguls soon.
