James404's 225g+ SPS Dominant

Following along! Im setting up a 190/ 90 gallon sump and planning on using the SRO external 3000 and the water blaster 3000. What is the benefit of using saphire glass on the front? Is it more scratch resistant?

Set up looks good James!

Thanks Harry, if your at the meeting tonight I'll see ya there!

Love the skimmer!!! I have 2 of them..LOL

Thanks Jarrett, I'm really happy with it so far.

How do you like the octopus cone???

I love it, well worth the money.

The 3000 will work well for your tank, will you be feeding it with the waterblaster 3000? Starphire glass has lower iron than normal plate glass so is clearer. Heres a comparison image, with regular glass on the left:

James, things are looking great. My build is going a LOT slower than I originally planned... still working on pre-tank things like converting the garage into the fish room, etc. See you at the meeting tonight.

Thanks Matt, I know what you mean, this tank has been a very slow process for me (and the wife). Luckily she has tolerated it and its nice to be at the tail end of the setup finally.

Hey James, glad to see things coming together. This is a slow process! I'm finally up and running myself....

Is that a 75G sump? Nice that you have a room behind the tank (or that's what it looks like). I wish I had that kind of room.

That metal band holding up your skimmer drain might have rust problems eventually? I found some stuff exactly like that except it's plastic. I think it was at Lowe's.

Thanks Michael. Yep the sump is a 75g in the dedicated fish room that is adjacent to the tank room. I think you are definitely right about the metal band, I will try to find the plastic ones at lowes, I had the metal one laying around the house from another project.

Even though it hasn't even broken in yet, the skimmer has been kicking some major butt. Not bad for only having 4 fish in the 225g at the moment :smokin:

Looks good. Glad to see it coming together. It's taken longer than I planned, and I'm guessing the same for you! congrats.

Do you have 4 MP40's on there, or just 3, can't tell for sure from the shots? I have 3, but can't really get them on the back like you have them. I think that might help my flow out. How do you think it works versus end to end?

Wow! Everything looks great, especially the colors you've got for your corals with only a few fish. I'm impressed.

Thanks Michael, it definitely has taken longer than planned. Yes there are currently 4 MP40's on the tank along with a koralia magnum 5. Theres one on each end and two on back wall, been very happy with this setup so far but I feel like I could use more flow even so, thinking about getting a MP60 to put on one end and move another mp40 to the back.

I have a 6' by 30" tank. I added an MP60 right after Christmas, to join another MP40 and two 6105s. The difference in flow has been amazing. Depending on the mode, the MP60 by itself can produce a small standing wave across the full 6' length of the tank. My corals have never had more PE. So, I highly recommend your MP60 plan!
