Not true--I have seen different Japanese zoad & they are truely stunningly colorful!
I agree with Pufferpunk. There are several pictures, for example, in this thread that are quite unusual zoanthids that have not been available here before.

These zoo's came from Japan by way of Australia

Mind you .... some Aussie Zoas are very similar to the so-called Japanese Zoas especially the distinct "dark' round circle around the center mouth area. The "Japanese" Zoas are very much highlighted under strong Actinic lights and I have to admit the Brightest and Better looking than any other Zoas from elsewhere .... IMHO

i have these too, do they have a name? i got mine for the same price; $20 CAD for 10 polyps and 2 babies, that was about a month or so ago, now im at around 17 polyps, under my T5s, 14k, actinic, 14k, actinic 4 bulb, the orange gets brighter

All I can say is that these "Japanese" Zoas are always in clusters or sort of like a Matlike colony and hardly flat out mat (curled up or rounded mats) ... peeled off from it's original state of formation in the Wild.

These are actually a deeper water variety of zoanthid, they do arrive as a large flat mat as it was removed from the sea floor. The coloring is very bright and they do really well at maintaing the colors even under lower light.

Here is a picture of some recent ones I just brought in.

Roe's is local to me here in the Charlotte NC area. I bought my first 3 frags from them. All are great looking zoas and I am more than happy with them. They have/had alot of new stock come in over the last week or so but they have a $100 minimum for local pickup. I don't want to lay down another $100 right now and can't see spending $30 to have one frag shipped overnight 15 miles to me from the other side of town!!!!

We have to keep the ball rolling........right! Lets have fun..In a couple of months who knows what itll be...
