Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Not my thread, and wasn't referring to you. I was referring to the individuals who pop in just to say how awful Jebao is or to condemn those that use Jebao products. Them, and the armchair attorneys.

I guess that was in part in reference to me.. For the record, I do have an interest in the product. While I am not a fan of Jebao products, I have handled and installed and serviced plenty (dozens) of their WP and RW's. Not that I would recommend them but I certainly can't expect everybody to pony up and pay for a higher quality pump. Especially if they can't afford it. Just the same, if the Gyre does make it to market, I am sure I have see my fair share of those too. So while you may think of me as an "arm chair attorney", I haven't condemned anybody for using them. From my aspect, it would be a bit more exciting if there was actually some innovation involved and not excitement about a cheap knock off. Innovation is really what this hobby needs. Having been in this hobby for nearly 30 years now, I've seen a lot of innovation and it's the innovation that lead improvements in technology that I get excited about because that's what really furthers this hobby in my opinion.

As far as patent experience, I've had products that I designed for my computer business that cost me hundreds of thousand of dollars to develop which I obtained patents on. First through the provisional patent process then backed with an official patent/number. I had to defend that patent too after a competitor tried copying it so I understand the process having been through it first hand. That is one reason why I am particularly sensitive to the whole patent infringement stuff as well as blatantly copying another companies design. Same goes with registered trade marks. Just today, I was sent a picture from the navy of drive they bought with a blantenly counterfeit label of ours on it. They needed one of my businesses magneto optical drives and bought it open market. A shady company who I am all too familiar with sold them a drive under our part number with a label that they printed with my companies name (which is a registered trade mark), address and website on it. Fortunately, the drive supplied doesn't have the correct firmware and wasn't even the correct drive and isn't deigned to work in the system the NAVY needed for. and the Now the reseller is in the cross hairs of the US DOD for selling what will ultimately be considered a counterfeit drive. So yea, I am not a fan of companies that do that kind of business and certainly don't condone it but that doesn't mean I don't have an interest in these pumps. Rest assured, I will have my hands on them and install my fair share of them albeit begrudgingly. And do so even though I work for what some people consider a competitor which in fact couldn't be further from the truth.

The idea of patents is great...the reality is that a patent only affords you the right to take someone to court. By the time the courts decide anything (years later) the counterfeit companies have made a killing in the market place and can afford any losses through the court (not to mention they have since moved on to another counterfeit product that they are now cashing in on too).

Just got off the phone with Jebao;

The new Jecod Gyre will be 100% made in America. In fact, all the factory workers are required to show DNA reports proving they are directly related to the first Americans who came to this this fair land on a ship power by cross-flow technology.

Excellent. I was hoping they would require DNA testing this time...

any news on when it will be released ? i think a lot of reefers are waiting for the release

I believe the wifi is a separate module, comparable to the JBwave. The price of the pump alone is excellent. If it is proven to work with JBwave I'll give it a shot.

I emailed and Eric from fish street replied that this one will not work with Apex. it will be very interesting on how this one will stack up against the Maxspect Gyre . cannot wait for the video showing the flow.

It seems that fish street will not ship this product to the U.S (at least openly). So we will have to wait for a US distributor or sales on EBay if we want them in the States.

From Eric

Do not try to connection with the JBwave bluetooth connection, I afraid some of the customer will try to test on it to try.

We have this adpater before, it 100% will burn out the pump~

And it's not possible in Amazon for USD120 for wifi version, because Jebao is not develop for the wifi, the wifi is build from Fish Street Directly, we control the price on the selling

I think I'll wait for Joe from JBwave to make that call. Fish street may do it for less than CoralVue, but they are still a business looking to make money and keep it from the competition. This is all dependent on whether we can even get these units in the States.

For the member still do not know

For JBWave a bluetooth need USD89 (Its just a enter level and DIY Screen shot, his screen shot like DIY)
http://www.joejaworski.com/jebao/buy.html

Our Aqualink which is authorized by Fish-Street with Crossflow warranty just USD35 wifi per unit

And it is a Real IOS and andriod apps. Compare with price and product it have no reason wait for JBwave on it

I can't believe fish street isn't willing to ship to the USA (yet anyway)...

Also, not a bad price (although I can get two rw-20's for that price).

it's called a cross flow wave pump but in the description it states it isn't very strong and won't create waves? lol

So ~ $100 when they start hitting eBay :P

I have two RW15s and a WP60 in our frag tank, might snag one of these for the tank as well.

Not sure if I'd jump for one in the big tank just yet...

So they'll ship to Canada?

Seems like an easy money grab for a Canadian hobbyist to buy some and put a little markup to ship to US hobbyists ;)
