interesting note on fish street about Amazon chinese sellers offering chinese goods that don't have ic protected power supplies and causing mass returns due to failures.

That is bs. The difference is probably just the label and manual. Not any different from gray market camera equipment. They have caught on to greed just like the US distributor of the competing product. They don't want other sellers eating away their profits. Inciting fear is a marketing strategy, but is not a good one.
Imagine the other sellers dropping the price of cp to about half the original price, I would not be surprised if they still make at least 100% markup at that price.
fish street used to sell at a reasonable price, but you see wordings in their site about, we are increasing the price due to high demand. if they go back to selling at a lower price, they should not be worried about the small sellers on ebay and amazon cutting into their profit. I'm sure fish street can undercut them if they want to due to the volume they deal with.

I love it.. Even China is complaining that China is screwing them..

I agree though... really NO point in purchasing from Fishstreet.. their prices are higher/shipping is expensive,etc.. Amazon is killing them too just like many other "small businesses".. No one can compete..
I just got my CP-25 right from amazon and its got the proper "label" according the fishstreet images.. got it in 2 days too.. Pricing was a bit higher than Ebay but I have more faith in Amazon getting me the right product or fixing any issues with fakes,etc... so I gladly paid the extra price which was still cheaper than fishstreet..

how much did you pay for cp-25 on amazon?
it was going for $75 on ebay.
I have not found anything cheaper on amazon compared to ebay ever since amazon was required to charge sales tax. True you get the prime guarantee though, but ebay guarantee works as well.

ok, I misread that amazon was cheaper than ebay.

Go to page 40 of this thread.

thanks that has better details. (its on page 20 for me since I configure my page to show maximum number of posts) I'll try it later when I get home.

I take it this -

You can remove the end caps with a bit of practice, however I find it easier to slightly bend the mount which releases one side of the pump from the mount, held in with a rubber vibration absorbing mount. (you can then release the end cap much more easily.

is this similar to how to disassemble the rw pump, where you literally pull the bracket apart so the pump comes off the bracket?

The way I do it is to push the end of the mount out cap with my thumbs, bending the mounting slightly which releases the end and allows you to remove the pump and rotor assembly. You can then just push out the end caps with your thumb by pushing the small tab between the mounting arms. I haven't managed to remove the end caps without doing this.

I've had a couple of failures on the CP-40's - both at once, two new motor units have been supplied and a new rotor for each side of one. Both are now working perfectly again.

Eric was suggesting that there is a new version (V3) of the pump coming out early August -this solves the issue of the motor stall detection being a little too sensitive which was my issue.

I just tried by prying the holder away to release the pump, exactly just like how it is done on RW pumps. After checking out how the end cap is clamped on, I can see the big tab is on the bottom side (magnet side). so if you can lift that tab out a little, the end cap should come off easily.

I finally put one of my Jecod crossflows to work. It's in an 18x18x10 frag tank. I set it at the bottom so it will run one way and blow stuff off the bottom from underneath the egg crate racks and then the other way to push water along the top toward the weir/overflow. So far so good. I need to cut down my egg crate floor as the pump takes up some of the room at the bottom. I intend to cut it in half and attach magnets so I'll have 2 easily removable racks that can go into other tanks if I need them out of the frag tank.

I've had a Maxspect Gyre for 2 or 3 months now. It's on one end of my 180g sps/lps reef tank. I've had zero issues with it so far.

Comparing the two, I like the Maxspect controller a little better, but they are not all that different. The Jecod pump does feel a bit heavier and more stout. We'll see how it runs for the long haul. My first thoughts are, I can't justify the extra cost of the Maxspect Gyre.

I have quite a few of the original Jebao WP wavemakers and I've had issues with some. All in all I'm not impressed, but for the cost difference, they are OK. I think the newer generations have been better built. I also have 4 of the first generations of the Jebao DC12000 pumps and a new DCT15000 and the DC12000 are all working flawlessly for more than 2 years. The DCT15000 isn't in use yet, but it does seem even more stout than the DC generation. And I assume the newer generations are even better. I'm hoping Jecod has learned a thing or two and the new Crossflow will be durabile right from the start.

Have you tried the new rugged bushings and propellers? Do they fit on the old rotors?

how about flow on yours?
i just put mine in . constant flow.. 100%.. and its about half as powerfull as a maxspect 150...
is this normal?
its not put together really nicely.. maybe i need to re assemble this?

I've not had a Gyre so can't draw direct comparisons, however those I know who have had both have reported the cross flow is almost on par, not quite, but certainly not only half as powerful.

I would check it is assembled correctly, the cable comes out of the bottom and the blades point downwards.
