Learning/rebuilding from my epic fail

Matt, Tim, thanks guys! :)
Areas of the tank are just beginning to have a slight mature feeling to them.. Other areas are still totally underdeveloped.
If I have some time, I may try another video tomorrow.
I've discovered that by turning the white LEDs up full on my ai primes, it washes out just enough blue to make a decent video.

I just got back from vacation but saw the pics on the crummy laptop I had with me. They looked incredible then and now even more fantastic on my monitor. Crazy fantastic!

Hey Mark, we all, here share a certain passion for reef keeping- that's certain. And we all want to have your babies grow out into full blown reefs but I have to say, I get a distinct pleasure out of taking cool photos of my tank- or any tank for that matter, but mine's the only one around that I can shoot..
I really appreciate you saying you enjoy the photos. It gives me great satisfaction, so thanks!
:)

Matt, I am blown away by the colors man!!! That Fruit Bowl is sexy. I saw a very very similar frag at my LFS, might just have to pick it up.

I'm incredibly jealous of this tank. I drool over it man!
Hope to have colors like you in my tank some day

Thanks, man! I appreciate it. I think drooling is the sincerest form of flattery! :) Hentz, you do have colours like mine!
That fruit bowl is a Walt Smith colony.. See where they got the original coral from..

Ok.. Made a video and uploaded it from my phone so I can't embed the whatever to make the vid play right from this post but here's the link..

Anyone who feels like embedding the thingmabob, I would greatly appreciate it! :)

Nice grow on almost all corals, even some deep water ones.

How you then treat those coral start kissing each other? Leave them there or trim a bit? Sorry if I overlook your thread....

When your Ice Fire Echinata is literally glowing at 0:57 :D

Beautiful tank man, seriously so nice!!

I love your scape too man. It's so open and looks so deep with the way the rocks and acros are mounted!

Great video! That jaw dropper is really growing fast.
Thanks! Many but not all of my corals have begun to really grow.. But I general it's all good.

No need to apologize, Shih! :)
I have been debating whether to break off the branches of corals that touch or just leave them.. The ones that are touching are only the tip of the iceberg.. Eventually, many more will begin to touch.. I don't think I'll be able to keep up with breaking every branch that touches another. I may just leave them alone..

Thanks Hentz! My tank is 32 inches deep. It really allows for a scape with depth..
Amazing Acros you have there! Your tank is so full of life! So beautiful.
Thank you very much Joao!

I still think you should break off pieces and give them to me. I'm not worried about AEFW I have a QT tank.;)

Sweet update! That green one with the white base is going to be a blazer for sure and the spare is freaking calling to me too :) I love your jaw dropped growth, I still think it looks similar to a jaqulinea, or however it is spelled. So does the green deep water.
Hey what changes have you been seeing from using the of and micro e?

Matt,
I love the video, it looks fantastic! Really shows the interaction between the fish and corals, looks like a real reef to me, very nice job man!
Cheers

Ha! :) well, at this pace it won't be long before things are being broken off.. The tank is in a bit of a tear.

Thanks, the jaw drop definitely looks deep water to me, as well and I think the one I have lower down is looking better.
In terms of the micro E and Koralcolor, I don't think 3 weeks is long enough to really make any judgements.
In a few weeks, I will reevaluate.
All I can say is that in the past month, I have experienced growth like I have never had before.
I haven't seen a big change in colour except for a certain metallic sheen on some corals and an intensification of green/yellow... Of all things..
The reason I chose to start dosing was because I had things very stable. Nutrients were right around 3ish N and .07 P.
A week after dosing began, nutrients started to rise.
I reacted by reducing food a bit and started adding a Carbon source- AF NP Pro.
I'm now at 12 drops NP pro a day and N is up to 6 and p is at .13! And I'm using po4x4...
So the change in colour could be from increased nutrients and nothing to do with the micro E and Koralcolor.
Maybe growth is from that as well..... Who knows!
I'll continue dosing for at least 3 months to see what happens.. I'll still try to keep p down, however..
I guess I'll increase my np pro depending on nutrients.
Well, I guess this is a mid update..
I had cyano coming back for about a week.. before I started dosing and within 10 days, it was gone... Then... A week later, it started coming back again. Not heavily but it's sort of sitting around the gravel. Moving and shifting..
Not sure what to make of this either..
Oh! My dose of MicroE and Koralcolor is 6drops MicroE and 1ml Koralcolor per day in 300 gallons system volume.

Love it Matt, just love it!!

With your two female Bellus though, did you add them at the same time or different dates?? And how are they settling together??
I ask because I'm planning on getting a buddy for my lovely girl and females are much easier to come across down here so seeing as you've got two of them how do you find them together??

Thanks, Dom!
Last year (before the oodinium zombie apocalypse) I had a trio of females, after about 8 months, one began to turn into a male.. Then, they all died.. I was not happy..
Dom, just get another female and enjoy the year of watching one turn into a male.
At first, they did not bother each other at all, now, the larger one periodically and without much malice at all, chases the smaller one..
I assume this is the 'dating' phase and the larger will soon start the change..:)
