3 leopard wrasses, all went straight to tank but purchased from LA Divers Den. those three are in a 220 gallon mixed reef tank (LPS + SPS). They eat all sorts of stuff but love both kinds of mysis.

yeah, you must be on rss feeds, or they call ya! I get the email, hit the page, bamm, you got it already! leave us slow folks some scraps now & then! LOL!

Well after a little over a month my leopard is finally coming out during the day. I removed the Falco Hawkfish that was dive bombing it ever chance it got. It seems to be happy but is not taking frozen or pellets yet. It shows some interest but form my knowledge has not eaten any yet.

It is a female meleagris that was picked up by a LFS directly from a wholesaler and then placed in my tank that same day. It was placed directly in my DT after treated with Formalin 2 and then Prazipro. The tank is a 150g (190g total) that has been up for a year. This is my first attempt at a leopard wrasse. I would like to purchase a male meleagris in the near future.

awesome job for a first try and thanks for sharing the wrasses with me for a minute . BRAVO !

Thanks wrasseman. I thought you might like to see the choati. I am just so happy he has stayed healthy for me. I can't wait to see some pics of your new additions.

been having a bit of a unlucky streak lately but im 96% sure i got things figured out . i have had a bunch of losses and all is stable now but i lost a few real nice guys that will be hard to replace . time heals all wounds, keep up the great work there !

well to the best of my knowledge i think that i was pretty dumb in the fact that i had a tank that i had as a refugium and then turned it into a reef tank without removing the mud . for some reason that i really dont know it seems that i mad a big mistake because it took out 3 choati leopards , red margin fairy ,potters ,two bipartius, two black leopards ,one vermiculate ,and two tamrin wrasses in the last four months and i now have changed the substrate and have three wrasses in the tank . a yellow tail tamrin, radiant wrasse and a china pearly black backed wrasse so lets see what happens now . i really think that the mud had something to do but nobody has been able to tell me why it would . the wrasses all were divers and nestled in the sand but never suffocated in the mud and never shown any signs of wounds but just died , eating well ,fat ,and boisterous the day before death . all params were good but my temp was 80 which is a bit high for my liking so i have sinse lowered it to 76. the water didnt have anything to do with it either because i have a common sump and suffered 0 losses in the other three tanks during this time . just the one tank that had the mud so IMO it was the mud but there is no real proof to base a conclusion on at this time ................................... any ideas ?

I'm thinking it's the mud, too. 1st, what all is in the mud? 2nd, it does not aerate well. Third, it made actually contain poisonous gases due to not aeorating well. It also might pack on the fish gills & cause oxygen depletion. It could also enter the gills and cause issues. IMHO.

only one sie of the tank had the mud and the wrasses could chose their sleeping area but i certainly do believe that the mud was the problem. i will keep ya posted over the next few weeks because of the changes to that tank .

That is crazy wrasseman. I am sorry that you lost the fish, but if you have isolated the problem and fixed it, at least now you know what was going on. I have zero experience with mud, but it certainly sounds feasible that it was causing a problem for your fish.
