I finally found the pistol shrimp in my tank the other night, after hearing it for months. Just added a bipartitus & maleagris wrasse to my tank. Would wrasses bother it?

3 days in tank& my bipartitus just surfaced to eat a bit of mysis, until yellow coris spotted her & gave chase. She's now hiding on sandbed behind some star polyps. It was suggested I leave lights out for a few days to let maleagris & bipartitus settle in, & help with the yellow coris's aggression. Any other suggestions? I hate seeing the new girl getting beat up.

After 24 hrs. MIA, maleagris just surfaced & exploring (but still not eating). A few minutes of territorial display & nips by Canary, but new guy didn't take much mess & stood it's ground. Off to get some garlic extreme & see if that helps with feeding response.

yessir gutloading is great !
Leopards are sensitive. If they perceive they are being harassed, they often just don't come out or progressively stay buried. You might consider which is the more important fish to you.

Thanks, all. Bipartitus came out for awhile this a.m., ate a bit of mysis, then did another sand dive. Maleagris has been out for about an hr, eating mysis soaked in selcon & vitachem; but I'm off to get live brine & cyclopeeze. & will ask about bringing canary back for credit. Congrats, Dizzle63, potters are beautiful, too.

Hmm I am not sure about the male female but I have seen color difference between larger and smaller ones from Hawaii. Smaller ones seem to have yellow background with blue dots and larger ones have orange background with blue dots. Congrats on the NLS pellets. :celeb1:
Haha, thanks for the support on the pellets. I have had both of them for almost three weeks now. They both eat like pigs and their only competition, my blue hippo, is going to hopefully be gone this weekend. I will say though, that both of mine are large at 3.5 inches, but neither is orange. They do both have some red to their dorsal fins however.

There could be regional variance on the colors. Just a quick google search, I found two very different results. The ones I saw with yellow were quite small (2" max).

My bipartitus is staying out & about today but hardly eating. Two of my LFS don't have Garlic Extreme but do have Brightwell's Garlic Power. Was going to pick some up to see if it helps stimulates her feeding. Has anyone used it before & if so, comments?
Are you feeding PE mysis? That is essential for initial feeding. Garlic will have no impact.

Yes, I'm feeding Hikari mysis soaked in cyclopeeze, with occassional vitachem & selcon. Sorry I didn't explain better.
That means you are NOT feeding PE mysis. Makes all the difference in the world. They will not eat hikari.

OK, what's difference besides brand name & smaller pieces? It's picking at some but not much.
