I had a red tamarin wrasse that I found in a local fish store. It looked marginal at best when I bought it but I hoped I could bring it back to full health.Unfortunately I couldn't get it to go past the first 3 days. Very pretty fish and the one on DD yesterday was super awesome looking. When I saw that guy it was not SOLD yet, but I hemmed and hawed over the price and decided I didn't want to spend it right now. I hope it went to a great home

That is a beautiful fish. Maybe someday I can feel confident enough to have something like that.

get ready by reading this entire tread on leopard wrasses and you will have such a better chance of keeping one of these delicate guys .

generally they are compatible but it depends on how territorial the mystery wrasse is as they get a bit nasty with age . i love mystery wrasses looks but have had issues in the past because when they get older they get territorial so they don't make my list anymore as i like peaceful community wrasses for the most part . don't let me scare you as many have had great results with the mystery wrasses and adding fish .just my experience with them ~

Well, here is a four day update on my female meleagris...
I aclimated her to the tank with a 3ish hour drip and released her into the dark tank (this is technically my sump, so I kept the doors shut for the rest of the day). I peaked in a few hours later and was surprised to see her out and exploring, so I added live brine to the tank and she ate, so I was happy.
I then didnt see her for two days I checked a bunch of times throughout the day both Friday and Saturday, if she was coming out, it wasnt when I could see. Then I saw her yesterday, seems she slept in late and came out a few hours after the lights came on. Again she ate (live brine mixed with mysis, she just ate the brine), and I saw her picking at the glass and rocks. Then she disappeared early, 3-4 hours before the lights went out.
So, hopefully she will continue to do ok, eating and swimming about is about the best I can ask for. How long are y'alls normally out and about? Is the late rising and early retiring normal?
I will attempt to post a picture, but I think Im a bit like Steve in this matter
I am just starting to get a hang on stuff that doesnt move! It is beyond me how some people get such excellent photos of fish, especially fast moving ones!
BTW, Dave, I saw that Anampses Feminininus come up on DD, and wondered if you had seen it/would try for it... I guess I was having a bit of 'wrass envy' hehe... Another one will come along, patience is the key to this game...

Will do, thanks for the tip! I was mixing with hikari (thinking it was about the same size as the live brine, a method that has worked previously).

Snorvich, do you supplement your PE mysis with Vitachem or some other vitamin, or just mysis alone? & how'd you get yours to eat NLS pellets? Mine are eating mostly PE mysis, some hikari, but nothing else.
My bipartitus is still acclimating & comes out from between 1am/3am to 10am. My maleagris is out around 10 or 11am to 7 or 8pm.

vitachem or selcon will do wonders but just dont over do it as it will somewhat pollute the water if you use to much . just a couple or drops will do the trick IMO .
I use Vitality as a supplement. I feed a little bit, multiple times per day, so one of the feedings is NLS pellets. Only the M. choati do not eat them. Also, a couple of my leopards will munch on nori.

She still doesnt come out every day (was out yesterday, but I didnt see her on Monday), but hunts and pecks at the rocks and glass. Fingers crossed!

Hey, Dave, I have not queried them, but I know aquatouch does fish collection to order (without wholesalers, inporters and exporters) and has a good reputation (was my LFS when I lived in phoenix 10 years ago I then still used them when I moved 700 miles away). Not sure if you have tried this route or not, but figured I would throw it out there for you.
They do have some nice Cirrhilabrus wrasses right now though

Been a member hear for a little bit and finally decided to make my first post. This site has helped me a bunch being pretty new to salt water reef tanks. Every time I have had a question I have found an answer hear, so haven't had to ask it.
Being a new proud owner of a Female Meleagris Leopard Wrasse this thread has really helped me out. I have had the Leopard for almost two weeks and he is doing good. Only saw him 1 time the first week I had him but he has been out longer and longer every day for the last four days. He was out for a good 6 hours yesterday.
Taking the advice of most here I went and got some PE Mysis shrimp to feed him. I have also been giving him clycopes and brine shrimp which he seems to eat.
The Leapard seems to be really interested in the PE Mysis but has a hard time eating it do to it's size. He tries to eat it and this spits it out and tries again. Some times he seams to be able to get it down but a mostly he seams to abandon it after trying a few times.
Just wondering if this was normal he is not that small at least 3 1/2 inches big.
Just tried to get a picture but it scared him and he went sand diving.
