Over the past several months I have been on the lookout for a Potter's Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon geoffroy). I very much enjoy the wrasse family and more specifically the various leopard wrasses. I have had good luck with my Blue Star Leopard Wrasses (Macropharyngodon bipartitus) and take that as a sign that my tank is hospitable for leopard wrasses. So, after looking at the local fish stores and reading each Diver's Den Sneak Peek email for a couple months the Diver's Den had one. I made sure to purchase the Potter's Wrasse as soon as it was made available on the website.

I picked the fish up this morning at the local Fed Ex facility. This is the second time I have ordered from Diver's Den (the first time I got a pair of beaked leather jackets, Oxymonacanthus longirostris) and for the second time I am very happy with how Diver's Den conditions and ships their fish.

The potter has been out all morning and is now eating nutramar ova and cyclopeeze.

Anyways, I snapped a couple pictures and took a quick video. I have the lights dimmed to allow the fish time to settle in so the image quality suffers a bit.

No way! I can't believe I missed this on DD. I've been checking their sneak peak email daily. I got an Ornate from them a few months ago and it was so easy. It ate and acclimated no problem. I would definitely buy any leopard they have on DD. Good luck to you. Update us on how it's doing.

Live Aquaria just emailed me and they have some Potters wrasses in stock right now if someone is interested in trying one.

Looks like I will have to be extra quick on Diver's Den now that I know I have some competition for leopard wrasses. :) Just kidding, it will be awhile before I add any more.

I got my first leopard, an Macropharyngodon ornatus. Went right into the sand yesterday when i dropped it in, but it was out a few hours after the lights turned on. It is a very good looking fish, about three inches long, and sorta plump. I dropped some frozen bloodworms in the tank and it ate 2 or 3. Good sign.

I got him from a LFS. Acclimated him for a good whole and put it in the tank. He went straight to the sand bed. Was in there for a good whole day. I finally got fed up and poked at the sand bed. He moved out right away and played dead on the sand bed. After a good 5 minutes he was swimming around. I have tired to feed him Cyclopeeze and no success. Im trying out frozen blood worms or PE mysis next.

i have absolutely no idea how many hundreds of times in this exact tread that we tell you NOT TO POKE around in the substrate in an attempt to make them appear . just a real stupid move if you ask me . what they are doing is ................forget it you read the tread or kill your fish , you decide . smooth move !

Socaldude, great looking fish.
Jdmhoes, the reason your fish played dead on the sandbed is because it was stunned from being dug up. As stated above I would just leave it be next time.

Hi, I posted on this forum about 3 weeks ago. I had purchased two Macropharyngodon meleagris a week apart from each other which turned out to be a good move since the first disappeard and has been missing for almost a month. The second however has been very active from before the lights turn on to the moment they are off. I read in this forum that this wrasses are picky eaters but mine is a vaccum cleaner and is always swiming around displaying her fat belly. I am yet to find a type of food that she wont eat. She is specially fond the nori sheets of algae I feed the tang. Will post some pictures soon.

Socaldude, great looking fish.
Thanks. Here is a pic of both of my leopards. The ornate is eating every type of frozen I put in the tank. The vermiculate was just added, so it will eat something and spit it out frequently. If it is anything like my ornate, it will come around in a couple of days.
