Let's see those open-top lighting setups..

Here's when mine when I was still getting the canopy ready. It was nice to have the MH light the kitchen, livingroom, and aquarium all with one light.

If you can't tell...I like open top tanks.

Bond sorry I didn't see it sooner.. those are the minis and they spread the light perfectly for the size tank I have..

My tank is FULL of rock.... I think I want to change it around and do maybe only 10 lbs of rock, instead of the 40 I have right now. I am looking at RENDOS's frag tanks and I am liking the wide open look, even though they are small tanks. My tank looks all cramped with my rock in it. Sigh...

Hi everyone, new to RC so thought I'd introduce myself by showing my 2 tanks. One is a 5ft main display and the other is a 2ft cube Aqua Medic chromis tank. Also included a pic of my new baby clown trigger :D

very nice! but heres a question. how do you deal with small flying bug that may land in your tank? I had a mothe land in my 10g and it caused my water to get merky and I lost some shrooms and things like that! not to mention now that I run a halide over it the tank attracks alot more little nats and things like that!

really? ....man i scoop out 3-5 dead bugs of different variety daily from my sump :)

Here is my 120 updated pic...

As you can probably tell...I am an open top fan.

I really, really love the look of the open top tanks, but don't you all deal with crazy evaporation?

I'm gathering supplies for my first tank and was planning to cut plexi panels for my 75, but I'd love to know if there's a way to do open top without going through water like mad.

Evaporation isn't a bad thing for a tank - well in most cases. It's also not that bad in my case. Evaporation helps keep the tank temps down and if you dose Kalk - I do not - use 2 part - so will help get Ca into your system. Besides it's only water. Very cheap in most cases. As u can see some are trying to promote evaporation with fans.
