mag didn't seem responsive to cipro

Looking good. Keep up the good work. With regards to the stuff it's excreting, in the more recent photos it looks like waste. It could be that the nem was slowly eating itself, which mayexplain the green which could be tentacles. Since it appears to be getting better, I expect this to stop soon, if it hasn't already.

2nd day in the DT. I actually put him in Friday night, not Sat. as I originally intended. No reason, except that it looked ok.

Nem looks bleached now, tentacles more sparse (result of all that tentacle consuming, as D-Nak proposed), but shows feeding response to mysis squirted w/turkey baster ... Looks like its stopped expelling that stringy brown stuff, so I'm just hoping that it can make a good recovery in my DT tank. It's attached and hasn't moved. Has not deflated at all yet, which is a good sign. Mouth is still tight.

I know it bleached during the QT because when I had it in my tank, it was a darker green.

Still a long ways to go, but here are pics!

A couple hours after feeding mysis, the mouth was a bit puckered, with flash.

Am going to continue to feed mysis every 2-3 days, until it begins looking stronger (i hope). i guess my other nem's will get a treat, since they NEVER get fed! lol

I think you did not treat him long enough. Still looks very sick. Get him back to HT and continue treatment. He is too sick and should not be fed right now

Have you checked your nems compatibility? Cause ritteri is the king of scaring all others. I would doublecheck to not send gig on roam towards PH.

I would continue with antibiotics for little longer till it stands strong on its own. It still seems in half pancake form on pics.

My mag hates haddoni. I put one in the system not even the same physical tank and it scrunches up. Allelopathy is real so be careful.

Thanks for the advice and opinions! After considering everyone's suggestions, I've decided to leave the 'nem in the display for the following reasons.

I was always one to believe in alleopathy, but for some reason, none of my gigs or rbtas were ever affected when I introduced another foreign nem into the system. Not talking about this episode (although it's true this time too!), but in the past, I also had a ritteri in there for about a month before I decided to give it away to another local reefer. I don't know ... I can only conclude that maybe mine are a bit more "immune" to it, so to speak.

I know some think that I should further QT it, based on the appearance that it looks flattened. I know the appearance you guys are talking about, but it's actually not that bad in person. The nem is on an angle, tilting toward you, so when I took the pic, it looks like its "flattened". Rest assured, it is not like that.

I don't think QTing it would do anything more to it, to be honest. It was approximately 5 days with cipro, and another 5 days with erythryomycin. Toward the end of treatment, it did not look like it was improving any further, still never fully inflated, always a bit on the scrunched up side. I didin't like seeing all those tentacles that it was losing in the QT. I believe over QTing it may have an adverse effect as well--best, most stabile tank conditions are the DT.

Despite the advice on this forum, I am going to keep it in the DT for a bit longer, since I have not observed any decline this weekend. There was NO deflating, NO gaping mouth. It had been 12 days of no food, and if it's bleached and losing tentacles, I would like to begin some bits of food to help start bringing it back to health. And if it's not throwing it back up, I don't think its harmful. I believe there is no more of that harmful bacteria in its system, since I haven't seen it really "purge" since cipro treatment.

Anyways, these are my reasonings, but obviously I say it with a grain of salt, since I will be observing very closely for the next few days. I am definitely ready to re-QT it, but ... with what? more cipro? erythro? Honestly, not sure if they will add anything more it.

the nem is still alive and kickin! lol. It hasn't moved from the spot its originally on, and I HAVE seen it partially deflate twice since moving it back to display, but I don't think its the sickly kind of deflation we usually see. (Fingers crossed it's NOT!) It think its barely beginning to get color back, but I wish it would inflate more. Always seemed kinda small to me. Will post pics when i can.

Thanks for asking!

ok, posted some pics from tonight.

It's definitely going to need some more TLC, but the tentacles are a lot fuller, and color is slowly creeping back in. I only successfully fed it 1 time. I attempted another time, but I coudln't tell if it ate it or not (it's at a weird angle where a rock partially covers its middle. So, essentially, it's just getting better by almost all photosynthesis and good water conditions.

I wouldn't try and feed it anymore. I would give it a month or so before trying again. It is looking good buddy!!

Here he is again, a little over a month now :)

Oh, and all gigs and rBTAs are still happy so far :)

congratulation !!!

this is just an awesome recovery. So in your experience, erythromycin did help this anemone?

yeah, I think the erythro definitely did. Wasn't reponsive to cipro at all but I could definitely see the change when erythro was added. Around that time, it did cause the nem to bleach during the treatment, but it seems like it's all coming back now.
