Marineland Marine series tanks

I just received a quoted from my LFS
36x36 with second overflow and Starfire on three sides -- $1350
48x36 (comes with two overflows as standard) Starfire on three sides -- $1500
The larger tank looks very inviting at that price.

I will blow your mind then I paid $1150.00 for the 60X36 with Starfire on three sides.

I may be getting the 72"x36" model, sometime this year/next, as one of the LFSs in the area has been getting them in readily. Either that or the standard 180g, not sure, hoping to go with the 36".

You don't want a 300 in high school. Moving a tank that size is an absolute chore. Stick with a small tank until you get out of college or get a full time job. Even then, I would wait for a house that you plan in being in for years.

Oh, well I actually have a part-time job at the LFS, and I really enjoy it. I know it would be a real chore, but I know I would never stop keeping fish, and I really enjoy the hobby. I most likely would go with the 180g, just matters what's has a special. Oh, and I'm paying for all of it in $ and in hours.

Thanks,
Steve

I started when I was your age as well and I have never stopped and never will. Just please believe me that you do not want to drag a 300 gallon, or quite frankly a 180, around until you get settled in life.

My 30 I had all through college was more than enough:) I think you could fairly easily do it with a 75, but I would get much bigger than that.

I really love keeping the large marine angelfish, and I just cannot accomplish that and keep them comfortable in a 75g. I am upgrading from a 180g, as it'll be in the new house, and I will be making it a fowlr, and I always have loved the triggerfish. I'm a stubborn highschooler, what can I say?:D That doesn't mean I don't value your advice.

Thanks,
Steve

It depends when you buy them.

If you buy one right after or before a trade show, they are much cheaper.

The manufacturer gives deep discounts durring these shows, and more times than not, they extend it to their customers.

Also, they ran huge discounts when they unveiled them, and occasionally you can get them for that price

a great price on the 300 is 1500.

Not to mention, each LFS will have their own markup percentage on price, some might mark up only 10% just to move it, some maybe 20-30%.

Now if I could just find out if there are any tradeshows near by... wait no... there are never any tradeshows near me, once a year there's a coral farmer market but they rarely get the big name vendors. You'd expect really populated place to have stuff like this, but alas it's too damn expensive to rent places around here to have the shows.

Was that from a LFS or somewhere like PetsMart?

I was quoted those prices by a store in Houston. I don't think they will ship your direction. I'm going to have to drive about 125 miles to pick mine up......but it's well worth it considering the store in my town quoted me over 2000 for the 300gal.

Do you mind PM the store names, thanks!!

Can someone provide the overall dimensions of the outer trim on the 300 gallon tank? (length and width)

72"x36"x27"
Tank: $1699
Stand: $849
Canopy: Getting back to me later. It's like 400-500.

I do get a 15% Discount though.

Is the price quote I got from a LFS here in NJ. Do you guys think it's a good offer? It has 3 sides of Starfire Glass.

I have a cad drawing from the factory for the 48". If you PM me with your email address I'll copy it to you. I think that you can get what you need from it i.e. the 48" tank is 48-1/8" x 36" to the outside edges of the frame.

Where did you get it from ? Been thinking of traveling up that way to find one . The few small LFS by me don`t have any and seem to have any prices yet .

Looking to get the 150g 36" cube. Does it comes with Starphire glass in all 3 sides, or only in the "front" side?

Thanks, wondering how much would cost to order this way.
Anyone here custom ordered one of these with 3 starphire sides? Could you tell me how much more you paid?

I don't think it is worth it on a tank that size IMHO. The glass will not be very thick and starfire does not make that much of a difference.
