High amounts of phosphates will cause browning. Lowering them to fast could cause TN'n.

How brown did they get with the po4 that high, i hate it when my po4 hits around 0.05 so im sure you were mad. How long do you think it takes to color back up when the po4 is dropped back down to 0-0.04. Im just curious i have a couple corals that just wont color back up since my po4 was out of control. I now keep it at 0.03 most corals look great but theres still a couple. I also have some that are dull looking now and im wondering if thats from lack of nutrients now. Anyways glad to see you getting it under control mark.

When I "rescued" some of Xia's browned out frags, it took the better part of a month to see some color and 3 months later, things are still getting better every week.

Thanks. It usually takes about 2-3 weeks to see a drastic improvement once the PO4 gets to an acceptable level. I also added a 4th 250 halide in the last month so I have being running a reduced lighting schedule not to bleach them out. I agree that at .03. the majority of corals look their best.

So, I got a phone call from my wife around 7, it went something like this,

"The power went off" (that is never a good way to start a conversation)
"OK dear, what do you see"
"water on the floor"

At that point I got in the jeep and drove like a bat out of hell home :(

I get home to see sopping wet towels around my stand. I located where the water was coming from so I begin to dry things out.
The new skimmer is drain fed and I had the airline was hanging over the side of the sump. It must of reached below the water line because the back syphon had water dripping out the airline. :(

This created a puddle where one of my vortech's power supply was sitting; not good :mad2: I did not realize this so I electrocuded myself over and over about 7-8 times trying to locate what device.

BTW, don't have your hand on a wet towel when atttempting this. :D

So right now, I have some things out from the stand with a couple fans in there to help dry things out. I think I fried my ACjr as the DC8 is working, but the acjr screen is blank.

I need to let my nerves calm down a bit before I get back under there and make a bad decision because I was not thinking straight. I have heard of too many stories of people over reacting when they need to just fix a minor problem. There is a difference between reacting instead of responding ;)

At least you didn't fry the whole AC jr system...
If you only have to replace the head unit a used AC3 head may cost as much as a New AC jr Head unit

Thanks Nick. Luckily the power supply for the vortechs looks very similar to those found on computer monitors. I was thinking that as I was moving into a new office last week :p

Dang mark, sorry to hear about the accident. One more reason why I should order a silencer from Brian  . Hopefully you luck out and everything drys and is not damaged.

Reminds me of when I set up my new tank....You know how it goes....long day....late at night...tired. I drained and moved the old tank...moved the new one where the old on was sitting....started filling back up w/ water....had some new water made up as well. Here is the deal...I have a ext. wavebox and forgot I had placed the driver in the ext. wavebox to get the cords out of the way when I moved it. so I get it about 2/3rds full before I realize I did'nt remove it :( .. I thought for sure it was gone....I figured the salt could'nt be good for it when it did dry...and who knows I thought it was a goner anyways so I went ahead and flushed it out w/ RO/DI and let it dry and what do you know it worked  :) .. Hopefully you have as good as luck as I did.

At least I was able to pirate a picture of this beautiful specimen before someone bought it.
