I used to vacuum mine every 6 months or so, but I am too lazy to move my chalices around.

oh yeah, somehow it slipped my mind that your tank is stocked full of beautiful coral, and all I have are fish, rocks, and sand :p

Nick, I use both phosar hc and gac in reactors. I am still under the impression that my phosphates are because of me and my feeding habits :p

Great pics awhile back. We're planning an upgrade very soon. Do you think it is worth it to go with Starfire? If so, why? Thanks so much!

When I got my new hanna, I thought I was doing something wrong to give a false reading. I was, kind of. When I tested out at .59, my PO4 was really .59. I did a wc and tested this morning comparing my test unit to a friends and it tested at .47. I came home and did another 20%wc and the new test results were

I stopped feeding pellets last week and I stopped feeding flake yesterday. I guess I have been concentrating more on my fish lately instead of my whole reef. I am going back just to feeding my "special recipe" and nori for awhile. I have 2 more 20% wc's planned this week.

I was amazed to see my PO4 as high as it is. :eek1:

Well, After adding my back up Phosban reactor with some rowa, and water changes on Tues and Friday, I tested again this morning and things are coming down. :) One of my concerns is going to be the residual effects of having it so high and then getting it back down so quick.

Mark, I'm assuming you were using the ELOS PO4 test kit before? How does it stack up against the Hanna, aside from less specific, do you find it to have reasonable accuracy?

Nick- I am expecting some. That is another reason I am doing all the water changes. I was really surprised to see it that low to be honest.

your dropping it very fast watch out for RTN

eeek. take the backup reactor offline. i have been there and it continues if you keep dropping the phosphate.

i would reduce the flow thru the GAC as well and see if you can keep it steady above .2 for at least a week.

I was only trying to drop it to .09 and I thought it would take a week, but I guess the rocks are unbinding quicker than expected.

Oh well, I am headed to the bay to see if I can find any new gems :)

I guess that was all for not yesterday Nick. I just retested it and it was .14. I will be doing another 20% wc today and that should put me close enough to my weekely water changes again.

You actually made me think about driving down to ATL tomorrow.

I would wait as it was a wierd shipping weekend with the 4th and I was not impressed. I did 4 stores yesterday and came home with only one piece. The said thing is that I already have it, but as it is growing out, I am reconsidering the coral :mad2:

I miss those Fun, expensive days:D

They are a lot of fun, but the more and more I do them, the less and less I buy. I sit there looking at corals thinking about 4 hours of interceptor, 40 mins of levamisol, where am I going to put this, what am I going to move, blah blah blah....
