Menard, Dolomite substrate?

Went out to the quarry in S. Elgin, picked up over 100lbs of pulverized dolomite for substrate in a new set up. My question for Menard is, should I rinse it out? I'm guessing not, since I didn't with the Southdown in my 125. Going to mix the dolomite with some crushed coral for the bottom layer in a plenum system. It will be covered by a few inches of finer sand. Looks like 2 weeks til Go time!

why would you put the dolomite in your tank? Shouldn't you put it in a calcium reactor? Does the bottom layer of a plenum lower the pH enough to dissolve dolomite?

I gotta know all this!!!!

menard.. will get around to answeringthis...but i will help... the dolomite he refers to is used in our calcium reactors and you need to lower the ph in the reactor to get it to disolve... i think like 6.2 .. if you use it as a substrate it will not dissolve... if that is ok then i dont see no harm. but you will not get the added benifits that the aragonite gives in a sand bed....

If you can fit him in your Ca+ reactor, then he will help raise your Magnesium levels and help you regain control of your night-club.

Sorry for the late respond!!
I would rinse that if i were U, Just put them in the bucket w/ running water and keep stirring it until it clears out.
Do not put the dolomite in the bottom add this one last for Aesthetic LOOK .....Plus Dolomite are heavy it wont get blown around like any other substrate. Aragonite, crush corals, oyster shells. sm.dead corals skellitons , sm. rubbles are pourous , great for Plenums.............PEACE
