Matt,
Your SPS FTS is amazing, your colors are looking phenomenal, great look in that shallow design, wow, very impressed. Any feedback on the AF lineup? My order has been placed, I won't have to buy anything for over a year, went big :)

One thing you cant deny is that t5s when you have the correct light arrangement give great growth and color! Ive been using LEDs for a a few years now and sps grow but not good colors on most of them and my zoas/palys dont really like the lights either they grow slowly and arent dying but the polyp extension isnt very good. Im seriously thinking about going back to either all t5 fixture or t5/SE MH 250w fixture the one thing ive come to love is the shimmer but even with my love of shimmer i might just try the all t5 fixture.
I have right now as a DT 75g 48x18x20 will the ati sunpower 48" x6 t5s be plenty for my sps dominant tank or is the x8 fixture better?
Like is said how much i like the shimmer is was also looking at the Hamilton 250W Metal Halide & x4 T5 High Output Cebu Sun Lighting System.
What are your thoughts?

I'm a big proponent of T5 and don't really care about shimmer, I would suggest the 6 bulb Sunpower for your reef. An 8 bulb unit gives you more combination options but it isn't necessary for your footprint.

Metal halides are proven as well, especially the Radium, but I haven't dealt with Halides in a long time and I'm not really the best to comment.

Your Corals will thank you for the change!

It's hard to not go big with their prices! I will be reviewing the different AF components soon, but I'll tell you that so far I'm very impressed with the products I've used. The packaging is top-notch, they are all formulated to dose 1 drop per 100L, the prices are good, and so far the response from the tank has been very good. You won't be disappointed!

Happy new year Matt.

I like the pictures for posterity. I love the deep and intense colours you are pulling. The three-colour acro is my favourite in the latest pictures. I am following your experiment with AF.

Thanks, the colors are indeed deep and saturated and the corals seem to really be responding well to the system.

I've been testing phosphate in the morning and at night and it has been 0.08 in the morning and as low as 0.06 at night. This morning it was down to 0.07 before dosing NP Pro and ProBio S, so if it follows the pattern it seems to be slowly declining.

Great colours your acros are showing (in yoda voice). :D

A bit more tweaking/time and I reckon you could take on the mighty Radium System (aka Andrews tank).

Seems like the two Matt's are preparing for Acro Wars Part 2. :fish1:

What is your feeding regime for the corals and fish?

Happy New Year to you (if I havent written that on your thread already...lost track with all the threads I follow...)

Thanks Sahin, I'm not there yet but it is my goal;). For fish feeding I do one feed of Spectra pellets and one or two feelings of frozen per day.

For frozen I take a 1L bottle and add a chunk of Reef Frenzy, a chunk of Mysis, and a Chunk of garlic Brine shrimp. When I say a chunk, I get flat pack frozen, not the cubes. I break off a piece of the flat pack about 4cm X 6cm X 1/2 cm thick from each of these foods. Each chunk is probably the equivalent of 4-6 cubes of food. I thaw these chunks in DI water and pour in a generous portion to each tank when I feed. I keep the container in the fridge and it lasts me 2-3 days.

Oh and I don't turn the pumps off when I feed. I find that the fish feed more vigorously when they have to catch the food. They clean up all the food within a minute or so.

Last night I checked the flow rate coming out of the Zeolite reactor, it turned out to be almost 80 Gallons per hour. There aren't any specs for flow with Aquaforest but the Zeovit guidelines specify 100gallons per hour for 1L. Since I had 300Ml in the reactor I turned the pump down to the lowest setting which turned out to be 38gallons/hr.

I've been getting a good growth of mulm on the stones, and the phosphate levels have been pretty steady at around 0.06-0.08, so I felt ok with adding some more media. I added another 200ML stones and left the flow at 38Gal/hr.

The Calcium reactor is pretty dialed in - I'm very happy with how easy this was. Right now I have the effluent rate at 25ML/minute and the internal PH is holding steady at 6.55. I can raise or lower either the pH or the effluent rate to bring the Alkalinity Up or down with the twist of a knob or push of a button.

I bought some corals today too...

Here are three of the 5 I bought:

Yeah, the AF guide says squat all about the Zeolites eh? I haven't checked of their website has more info...

New corals!! Yeah!!
Looking good.
Still following your transformation.
Good to see the ca reactor humming along as well
