Mike's 200g

My blue tenuis continues to get lighter looking and a small part had lost tissue. I took it out to inspect, couldn't see anything. I cut the dead bit off and put it back in tank but dropped the light intensity on the radions to 60% from 65. We shall see.

Sorry to hear that. I lost all but a small nub of a blue tenuis when I dropped PO4 too fast. It's finally starting to encrust the frag plug.

I'm hoping the rest survives. Tank looks ok but sometimes you have that feeling something is just not quite right. But don't know what.

Tenuis is a coral that seems to have varying needs depending on the type. I have 3 types of tenuis right up and centre of my tank. When I added a third mh (150w) in the middle of my two 250s, one of them bleached out (my bluest one) but once moved, it never recovered and then rtned after my cyano treatment..
I suspect all of my tenuis frags may be getting more light than they need or want but the other two have good polyp extension so inhabit moved them..
I think I might lower them a bit, though.
Probably a good idea to drop the intensity of your lights a bit..

I got the elos phosphate high res kit. Came out closest to the 0.024 color on the po3-4 scale, which is the one I believe I am supposed to go by. So still pretty low but not 0.00 like on hanna. Still not numbers where I would expect the glass to need to be cleaned daily.

Really nice video Michael, I love the aquascape and that efflo is stunning!

I hope your sand is ok, it looked like your orange fungia was on fire.

Haha yeah those little plastic filters for the phone sure make oranges "pop".

The tank looks a little different now as I have returned 12 corals to my father in law. I also have him a good size frag of my setosa as its getting out of control, and I gave him all my scans as the angel liked to pick on them (who needs flubber anyway).

Managed to borrow a par meter from LFS.. I'm getting around 250 just under surface?? Can this be real? Sand bed is like 110. I guess I need to up the intensity? I wanted to aim for like 450 ish top of rocks and 200-250 on sand bed.

If coral colors are good leave it. :)

that's a tough one..
id be so tempted to play with the lights.. but like Mark said......
if you do start playing, make a conservative adjustment and give it a lot of time to show any changes..
yes led is strange.... most do do better with low par but every now and then you see a crazy tank where the reefer has all his leds at 100%!

I have put them on a 6 week acclamation up to 80 or 85% and watch closely for signs of stress. Even though as I say my blue tenuis is possibly a bit stressed anyway... Who knows maybe it was from too little light

I could not keep tenuis alive until I removed GFO. Apparently (guessing) they are extremely sensitive to PO4 changes.

It may just be lightening from low nutrients. I don't run any gfo at the moment, havnt yet on this tank. Only filter sock, skimmer, passive GAC. I also make very small weekly bacteria additions of Dr Tim's waste away. I Really like this product for providing good bacteria. In past any time I had cyan Or any snotty type stuff in tank I use waste away and it clears it up well.

Not sure what's going on. The blue tenuis continued to lose tissue so I have had to cut it up. I took one frag off and the cut the branches that were showing stn off the main bulk of the coral. Was one of my best pieces, it was so blue. Now, to make things worse, I'm noticing stn on a couple other pieces. All tests performed couple days ago have me nothing to be concerned over, and things from what I can see from records have been stable. I am going to stop all color elements as this has been my latest addition... Even though i have been under dosing. The other thing my be the emporer angel? But I would just really expect him to inhibit PE, not cause stn.
Other corals look fine, some better than ever.

Sorry to hear!
Where is n and p again?
This is the only thing that comes to mind for me because you often mention how your test results don't jive with what you expect..
Maybe the corals are hungrier than you think they are?
Tough to tell when things seem so stable for so long..
Many of the tanks you are trying to emulate may be maintaining ultra low numbers but may also be feeding and supplementing more than we know or think..

Why don't you try feeding more for a few weeks.. You certainly have a cushion- you could easily have higher n and p without problems.. You don't have to worry about a nutrient explosion...
