Mike's 200g

Thanks everyone. Unfortunatly not all the pieces are mine I am holding a couple for my father in law. There are a couple I will hate to see go when it's time (a really beautiful purple secale)

Yes lots of space for growth, wasn't going to add much else unless it's special. Just so I do leave room for it to grow.

Unfortunately one piece I was looking after didn't make it. It started with tissue loss near the base a few days ago and now it's pretty much all gone. Sucks looking a piece especially when you are looking after it for someone else.

WOW!!!
This tank looks amazing, and that efflo...!!! Colors on point, clean sleek tank, great job :) Good video too :)

Mike I love your scape! Tanks looks great.
I found that the right side of the reef looked like it had a warmer cast to it than the left.. I don't know why..
The filters make some yellow and orange corals really pop but it definitely tones down the excess blue..

Thanks yeah I need more pinks and reds on the left side to balance it out a bit.. Too much green tones on that side.
Yeah the filters are not perfect the oranges come out a very bright light orange, it takes the blue light out but it also makes the blue corals not look so blue. Still better than the complete blue wash out my phone gets with no filters.

Tank looks great love that efflo. I just picked up some of these filters for the my phone makes a big difference but mutes some of the coral colors overall they are worth the few bucks

That video was great Mike, very tasty scape which you can't appreciate until you see the video - love it mate :)

Tank is looking great. Not sure if the video embed is going to work.

Thanks for the kind words everybody.

As for the tank I am still getting a daily algae film buildup on glass. However I still get low readings for no3 (up a bit) and 0.00 reading po4. I'm still guessing these are false due to daily algae wiping? My aim is 0.2 and0.03 like some of my all time fave tanks out there (K. Tryc , Damien, etc)

It's hard to know as some corals look brown, some look light. I still wouldn't say I have colors typical of the above mentioned tanks, so I am contemplating firing up my bp reactor with AIO pellets just like lunar runs. Thoughts? I'm thinking using algae on glass as inicator and think it needing to be wiped every other day or 3 days would be the target for low nutrients but not sterile?

I have noticed my wild blue Aussie acro not looking as good lately. Not sure why yet. Not much pe on it and does have a small patch of tissue loss on underside, and color just not as stunning. Will run full tests tonight. Pearlberry on other hand is looking better than ever.

New emp angel is doing well. Nibbles at Xmas favia ( I'm fine with it) so far leaves sps alone even fuzzy polyp millies

I want to borrow a par meter just to take measurements and see what I am getting as really have no idea. Sometimes I think I should up the intensity, sometimes I think lower... Basically I don't know or if I should just leave it... Which is what I end up doing (probably for the best)

Tested parameters

Alk 7.7 dkh might try have this come down to more like 7.3 - 7.5

Ca 410ppm
Mag 1350ppm

No3, 1 maybe 2.5 really hard to tell difference in pink shades. Clearly coming up though and I think I would prefer closer to 0.2- 0.5 as this is what my favorite tanks seem to run

Now the confusing one,
P04.. 0.00 ?! I run no gfo or anything, where does it go? And if this is true would I be getting glass haze daily?

I had been wanting to fire up the AIO pellets (keep no3 down) but the 0.00 po4 makes me think I shouldnt, if there really is 0 po4 pellets wouldn't bring no3 down anyway.

Yeah, with 0 p, pellets won't help you much unless you begin dosing phosphate..
Always tricky these boxes of Mother Nature..

If I were you, I'd get an elos professional high resolution po4 kit to compare results.
When my p was at around .07 with elos kit, I had two eggs that I compared results with..
One would ALWAYS read 0 and the other around .14....
Stopped using the eggs all together..

I will look out for one. Have you used the red sea pro po4 kit? Any thoughts on it?

I've used it extensively and it is difficult to read.. Especially at lower levels.. Like the Red Sea nitrate kit, the colours do not match very well but with the phosphate kit, it's more pronounced..

Maybe should just give up on test kits all together and go by algea film on glass? I will look for the elos kit.

Many do... I don't. I'm cleaning the glass daily and if I'm lazy, I skip a day...
But my tank is an algea factory..
