Progress is a slow process, but here's my 'minimalistic' 57G Oceanic...

those colours pop. Very nice. What lights?

Kimber, I probably have another 20 lbs of LR in my sump. I also run a RDSB in a 5 gallon bucket which has a lot of surface area for bacteria. Phosphates and nitrates pretty much close to zero in my system.

Yup... I paid $ 5.99 per pound for rock that I can't see unless I open the doors and sit on the ground infront of my sump....... But I really prefer the open look compared to my first tank that was wall to wall rock.

I was lucky I found this thread as I was putting my new tank together... really helped me with the rock placement... there are some amazing looking tanks on this thread...

I thought I would post here because I am a big believer in avoiding the "wall of rock" look. I placed a very limited amount of rock in my 400 gallon tank because I wanted lots of open swimming space and room for coral to grow.

Here's what it looked like shortly after adding rock...

And what it looked like after 2 years of coral growth...

It just takes patience. The hammer coral in the upper left has almost reached the water surface at this point.

2nd day up so don't expect much.

NJ, looks like a cool tank, with definite potential! I'm assuming you're going to raise the water level up a bit right?

aj, your tank looks good. i personally would remove the frag rack though.....completely kills your otherwise perfect look. **JMO.**

E. it's not fully plumbed yet. once it's plumbed it should only be ~1" from the top.
