Minimalist Aquascaping

I don't know if others will consider this minimalist but here is mine a few months ago before alk spike....

I noticed that most of the "minimalistic" tanks here also have minimal corraline and minimal snails crawling on the glass, and this really tends to add to the clean, slick look.

is this by design, or are all the pictures just from new tanks?

I tried to go mimimalist with the rock design but still have room for corals. There is about 40 lbs of rock in a 48 gallon tank. Here's a photo when I first set up the tank:

It doesn't look so empty now that it's full of corals, though...

Adrienne, I drilled the rocks and stacked them on top of PVC pipe. I also put plugs of reef putty at certain points as supports.

Ah, so very solid and stable construction. It's very cool looking!

Serpentman, that is a really great tank. I love the aquascaping. It gives such depth front to back.

I DEFFINATELY AGREE, Great looking tank.

+10 on dreamy tank dimensions, Serpentman.

I'd love to do a 5 foot version of your tank....perhaps when I retire some day and know I'm never moving from my home and no longer live in an earthquake zone.

Tell you what, I'll trade my 300g for a spot in that earthquake zone, lol!

Here in NE Ohio, we have to bring the ocean indoors because we get 120" of snow every year.

Huntington Beach, CA......I believe there's a Huntington Beach in FL too, so no hurricanes here, just lots of mostly perfect weather.

I would definitely suffer a downsize in my reef in exchange for S. Californian weather. The change in the cost of living would be scary though.
