Mixing Clowns: BAD IDEA?

Sooooooo I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I can't resist asking. I currently run a 14 gal biocube with an established pair of clowns (one black, one orange). My LFS just got in a batch of very inexpensive platinum clowns, which I've been wanting for some time now. Will my clowns tear the new guy to shreds? Thanks!

Most designer clowns are Percula and Occilaris which mix alright. I would be more concerned with adding a new clown with the established pair. They will most likely be very territorial especially in 14 gallon tank.

One the other hand this might be the prefect excuse to set up a second tank

Haha I was just thinking that! I've always wanted to set up a small system, clown only community tank. I just love the idea of mixing different types of percs. I won't run the risk, my female bites my hand relentlessly anytime I have to move rocks around. I can't imagine what she would do if I introduced a new clown....

That's a pretty good indication of what she would do to other clowns.

+1 let me tell you i have a clown that as soon at i put my hand in the tank she goes on defense mode and bites me between my fingers a few weeks agao i added 8 yellow cromis she killed all of them in 4 hours except for one with is now living in my sump

Yikes! Yes, my better judgement kicked in and I decided against the idea. Also, she is HUGE. I bought my orange perc and black perc on the same day and just about the same size. She doubled in size in about a month! Shes really passive towards the male tho, almost no quarrels. These designer clowns are so cool tho. I am actually thinking of upgrading after the summer and establishing a 30 gal community tank of clowns.
