Mo's 6ftx8ftx3ft SPS Reef Tank

Wow thats some beautifull coral pics. How about a fts?

I think there is one on the previous page.
I'll need to do another one soon. I have had 1 or 2 issues after changing lights to Radiums. I lost a few corals and burnt a few tips. Recovering now though.

Tank is absolute sickness. Loving it every step of the way. Awesome build. This would be more of my dream dream build. Can you share some lessons learnt on it?

Thanks.
There are always lessons being learnt.

My sump isn't accesible at the back, which is a pain to clean.

It would have been nice if my weir's could cope with more flow. I would turn my return pumps up.. they actually provide enormous undertow in the flow when I turn them up.

The sandbed get's really dirty. I'm thinking bare bottom may be less hassle.:spin2:

Otherwise, it runs pretty well.

I might think of adding a frag tank somewhere in the system at some stage...

Absolutely Stunning MO!!!

I haven't been on your thread on UR for some time, but things look to be growing in amazingly. Great work - I'm still looking forward to the day of my dream tank indulgence... but in the meantime, I'm perfectly happy living vicariously through you and others hear on RC.

Love this build! Great job!

Amazing build Moser thank you for taking the time to post that wonderful tank and build!

Gorgeous tank mo,contracts on such great work.

just went thru entire thread and its awesome...

Nice build!!!! I'm concidering a similar sized tank in my basement but question if my concrete floor can take the weight. Were there special considerations to the concrete slab in your case? I don't want to compromise the house's footing so will stick with a tank size that can take the existing structure.

Thanks guys.

I had the walls built up from the footings with engineering bricks. 8 RSJ's sit across the walls and distribute the weight. I only needed 4, but we got 8 for the price of 4!.

A few more shots from this AM...

Tri-colour acro front right of tank. Some of the shots were slightly blurry as I had to hold the camera out full stretch and hold still!...

Small pink/ red cluster acro... ? species. This is sat on top of the main pump ceramic rock, next to the large desalwii, which burnt a few tips when I switched to Radium bulbs... it's slowly recovering it's tips and they are colouring back up... You can see that on the left.

Just found this thread and read the whole thing. Simply stunning.

Steve's tank is my all-time favorite. Yours is set to give it a run for its money.

Thank you for posting so many detailed pictures.

What is your secret ? :bounce2:

Thanks Jan,

Same as you.... Good light, Good flow.... AND Bubbleking's!!
I shocked a few corals when I swithced to 9 Radium's, so I chickened out and put the 10K Reeflux's back in. I have 12 Actinic T5's as well. I did lose a few corals, but coming right again....

Nice video BTW!!....
