Looking good Mo!!
How do you find the 10k Reeflux?..how yellow are they without Actinic? Would you go back to Radiums and slowly raise the photon period..or were they too blue?
The 10K's are too yellow for me, to be honest, but I haven't seen the corals react to anything better than these bulbs.
If you like a bluer look, you should go for the Reeflux 12k's. I like them, but they are MUCH less bright than the 10k's. There is a big difference. Radium 20k's are brighter, with a similar spectrum. to the 12k's wi th my Giesemann pendants.
I ramped up the 9 Radiums over about 10-14 days going from 1h to 6h. When it got to 6 hours for 4-5 days, the corals started to suffer. I'm not sure that 9 400W radiums wasn't just too much uv spectrum in for the corals to take. When I last used 9 Radiums, the corals weren't doing too well at that stage, but I just put it down to the early stage with ceramics. I'd be brave to try 9 Radiums again, but I might be convinced to run 4 or 5 mixed with 10k's. It's just a theory, but I haven't seen a tank use 9 x400W all Radiums?...
I have a 12k Reeflux in the middle of the tank now with 8x 10k's running around it and you can't notice it. What I don't want is an obvious change in the light colour in different areas of the tank, which I might get by mixing too many Radiums with the 10k's.
Currently, I run the Halides for 6 hours, when when I'm out and just run the Tubes when I'm viewing. I'm so impressed with the 10k Reeflux bulbs' effects on the corals, that I may just stick to this and adjust the T5's to get the most pleasant look for viewing.
I love the look of corals under the Radiums though. They get an added 'pop'.
